THIS IS NOT A LOVE STORY. THIS IS A ROM COM GONE ROGUE.
Say hello to Sally.

I’ve woken up in the Big Apple with the world’s worst hangover, an empty bank account, and the sinking feeling that my life just nosedived. Last night’s escapade is a blur, but one thing is I’ve been swindled and I’m not happy about it.

She’s the woman of your dreams…
The culprit? Harry – a total dreamboat and my worst nightmare. He’s got charm, secrets, and a smile that screams trouble. Little did I know, Harry’s not just a pretty face – he’s a liar, conman and he’s turned my life upside down.

…or is she your worst nightmare?

When I discover I’m not the only victim, I decide it’s only right I take my revenge. And with a group of wronged women behind me, murder isn’t on the agenda just yet because Harry’s in for a nightmare and I’m only just getting started…

I first saw this book on NetGalley, and I have been dying to read it, a rom-com with revenge, chaos, and a little bit of mayhem. How could I resist?

If you’re looking for a love story—keep moving. When Sally Killed Harry, is not here to sweep you off your feet. Instead, it barrels in with messy energy, razor-sharp wit, and a revenge plot that turns the typical romantic comedy completely on its head.

Sally is chaotic, hilarious, and immediately likeable. She wakes up in New York City with a killer hangover, zero money, and the growing suspicion she’s just been scammed. Enter Harry—ridiculously attractive, charming beyond belief… and a total con artist. It’s the classic “boy meets girl, boy scams girl, girl loses mind and maybe plots vengeance” kind of story.

What follows is a wildly entertaining ride full of sharp banter, girl gang power, and a glorious spiral into revenge mode. Sally’s transformation from victim to vengeful mastermind is pure joy to watch, and Lucy Roth’s writing style matches the energy perfectly—fast-paced, punchy, and dripping with dry humour.

It’s a ridicule of romance tropes but still delivers all the entertainment you’d expect from a good rom-com—just with a darker, twistier, more delicious edge. Think Bridget Jones meets Gone Girl, but way funnier and with fewer bodies (for now…).

This is a clever, feel-good (and slightly unhinged) tale about taking back your power, reclaiming your narrative, and getting even in the most fabulous way possible. If you like your female leads feisty, your villains charming, and your stories full of sass and revenge, When Sally Killed Harry needs to be on your radar.

About the Author

Author bio from the author’s site

I also write as Lucy Nichol. When Sally Killed Harry is my debut thriller. I’m often told I’m far too angry, I count being blocked by Piers Morgan as an achievement, and I refuse to choose between Meghan and Kate just because they’re both women. Ditto Courtney and Kat. My earlier books include The Twenty Seven Club, Parklife and No Worries if Not. I’ve also written previously for Sarah Millican’s Standard Issue Magazine, and media titles including The I Paper, The Independent, Metro, NME and many more.

This is my kind of rom-com – I highly recommend this one if you are not quite the romance fan. Remember to share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment below. Until next time…. Happy Reading!
