Laura has returned to work at Morris and Wood after her maternity leave, only to discover that the woman she brought in to cover for her isn’t planning on going anywhere. Despite her close relationship with the agency’s powerful CEO, Harry Wood, she feels sidelined—and outmanoeuvred—as she struggles to balance the twin demands of work and motherhood.
Mia was only supposed to be a temporary hire at Morris and Wood, but she’s managed to make herself indispensable to everyone. Everyone, that is, except Laura. If people only knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not want her to stay.
Janie gave up everything to support her husband and the successful agency he runs. But she has her own dark secret to protect…and will go to any lengths to keep it safe.

It’s been ages since I last read a Heidi Perks book. She has a real knack for weaving domestic suspense around the complexities of modern womanhood—career, marriage, motherhood, and the secrets we bury to keep it all from falling apart. Three Perfect Liars brings together three women—Laura, Mia, and Janie—whose lives intersect through an advertising agency, each holding secrets that threaten to unravel everything when a devastating fire tears through the company.

The story opens with Laura returning from maternity leave, only to find her temporary replacement, Mia, firmly entrenched in her role. The tension between them builds quickly, fuelled by insecurity, resentment, and the subtle power dynamics at play in a workplace dominated by men. Then there’s Janie, the CEO’s wife, who appears to have the perfect life but harbours her own hidden motives and emotional scars.

While the premise had all the ingredients I usually enjoy—multiple perspectives, tangled relationships, and simmering deceit—I found the pacing a little uneven. The build-up was slow at times, and I struggled to fully connect with the characters. Each woman had compelling reasons for her actions, yet their voices occasionally blurred together, making it harder to feel truly invested in any one of them.

That said, Perks excels at portraying the internal struggles women face when trying to “have it all.” The portrayal of working motherhood, competition, and quiet female rage felt authentic and relatable. And as the story edged toward its fiery climax, the tension finally clicked into place, delivering a satisfying if somewhat predictable resolution.

Three Perfect Liars was a solid but not standout read for me—interesting enough to keep me turning the pages, but it didn’t quite pack the emotional or psychological punch I was hoping for.

A slow-burning domestic drama about ambition, deception, and the secrets women keep, perfect for fans of layered female perspectives and morally grey characters.
