Imagine turning up to your own party, and recognising no one. Your best friend has just created your worst nightmare.
Louisa is an exhausted, sleep-deprived new mother and, approaching her fortieth birthday, the very last thing she wants to do is celebrate.
But when her best friend Tiff organises a surprise party, inviting the entire list of Lou’s Facebook friends, she’s faced with a new source of anxiety altogether: a room full of old college classmates who she hasn’t spoken to in twenty years. And one person in particular she never expected to see again is there – her ex-boyfriend from college, the handsome and charismatic Oliver Dunmore.
When Oliver’s wife Melissa goes missing after the party, everyone remembers what happened that night differently. It could be the alcohol, but it seems more than one person has something to hide.
Louisa is determined to find the truth about what happened to Melissa. But just how far does she need to look…?
One simple Facebook invitation unfolds into something both tragic and monstrous; a story of obsessive love, breath-taking deception and masterful manipulation

Official Summary

I started my day finishing this book which is very unusual for me. I do not usually read in the morning, but this book had me hooked and I could not leave it unfinished. This is a true page-turner – you won’t be able to walk away from it.

I have only read one other book by Sam Carrington and I find her writing to be gripping and twisty. I have not had as much time to read lately but I still raced through this book in record time. I loved the final twist. As you read this book you know someone is messing with Louisa, but you are never sure who. Sam Carrington tells a brilliant story and I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Louisa is about to turn forty, and she has recently had an unplanned baby. Suffering from sleep deprivation, and a stroppy teenage daughter is fast catching up with her. When her husband and her best friend plan a surprise birthday party – Louisa feels betrayed. The last thing she wants is a party to celebrate. Yet, the worst part is that the people invited are from her past – a past she has tried very hard to put behind her. More importantly, Oliver – her first love – arrived at the party. Oliver is the last person Louisa wants to see. When his new wife disappears at Louisa’s party, Oliver worms his way back into her life and all too soon everything goes wrong. Struggling with her memory, Louisa needs to confront her past and find a way to remove Oliver from her life.

I loved the way this book dragged me deep into Louisa’s world and would not allow me to escape until I reached the very last page. This book was an intriguing, gripping read.

The author did a brilliant job with Louisa. I found myself feeling her struggle to hold onto reality. Her lack of sleep makes it hard for her to stay in the present and while she feels like she is losing her mind you are left feeling her confusion and uncertainty. The author depicts this woman’s struggle beautifully. I found myself struggling to keep track of her reality as the read. The more you find out, the more you want to know, eager to help Louisa figure out what is real and what is not. I loved how vivid this character’s thoughts were throughout the book.

You guessed it, I loved this book. Sam Carrington manages to bring this psychological thriller to life and you will not be left disappointed when you reach for this title. I highly recommend that you give this book a try if you enjoy an edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller – this book will keep you up all night…. Or like me, reading when you should be working (Don’t tell my boss!)

Have you heard about the couple on Maple Drive? Isla barely leaves the house after her brutal mugging. Her boyfriend Zach moved in with her after the attack. To look after her. But something else has happened now. Right on their doorstep. I don’t want to say that someone’s out to get her…

I just hope they find out the truth before it’s too late. Or at least before the secrets they’re hiding from each other surface. Because those could be even deadlier…
