What is a happily ever after really worth?
Naomi was living the quintessential love story. Boy meets girl. They fall in love, get married, buy a dream house, start a family…
Then―he kicks her out, hires the city’s best divorce lawyers, drains their accounts, and takes up with a 20-something.
It’s a brutal end to the story. Naomi should accept defeat: move into a dingy apartment, get back into the workforce, and piece together the shattered remains of her life.
Except, why should she?
Instead, Naomi fixates on her husband’s new girlfriend. What begins as cynical curiosity soon twists into obsession―and then into something far darker. As Naomi uncovers secrets she never imagined, she realizes her own life may be in danger.
But if it keeps her perfect family intact, isn’t it worth it?

This was another great read from Freida McFadden. I finished it in a day! True to McFadden’s style, this thriller is packed with twists that turn everything upside down very quickly.
Told from multiple perspectives, the story allows you to get to know each of the characters. With every new perspective, you find yourself looking at the previous characters in a completely different way. The story plays strongly on the idea that there is always more than one side to a story, and that listening to only one version can easily give you the wrong impression.
I loved how McFadden managed to shift my loyalties throughout the book. I completely fell into the trap and immediately found myself supporting Naomi. The way Jeremy treated her had my blood boiling! So, initially, I was firmly on Naomi’s side and took an instant dislike to Veronica, the pretty, younger homewrecker. I had no doubt that she was the villain of the story.
That was until we got Veronica’s perspective.
And then everything changed.
No doubt about it, Eddy stole the show. This little boy was simply the sweetest! He was such an adorable little guy and definitely one of my favourite parts of the story.
McFadden has once again delivered a thriller packed with surprises, characters who are not quite what they appear to be, and enough twists to keep you questioning everything. I particularly loved how she managed to shift my loyalties halfway through the book—I certainly did not see that coming!
That has earned The Divorce a spot on my loved list. Fans of Freida McFadden can expect to be captivated by this twisty tale, and for me, this one certainly lived up to all the social media hype.
