Murder at Honeysuckle Harbour was such a fun and enjoyable read. It has all the ingredients you could want from a cosy mystery: a small, scenic village where everyone knows everyone, a murder that nobody seems particularly concerned about, a determined amateur sleuth, plenty of secrets hiding beneath the surface, and, of course, a touch of romance to spice things up.

I have recently found myself enjoying a cosy mystery every once in a while, especially as a lighter change of pace between all the dark and twisted fiction I normally read. Sometimes you just need something a little more comforting, and this book certainly delivered that.

Daisy returns home to Honeysuckle Harbour following the death of her father. While grieving, she takes over his veterinary practice and has to find her feet while trying to win over all his long-time clients. Taking over a much-loved local business is never easy, but Daisy soon has even more to deal with when one of her clients, Margot, is found dead.

The local police don’t believe Margot’s death is suspicious, but Daisy isn’t convinced that it was an accident. Before long, she finds herself doing a little investigating of her own.

As Daisy starts digging, she uncovers a collection of secrets and motives that suggest there may be more to Margot’s death than initially meets the eye. At the same time, she has to deal with a new veterinary chain opening in town and threatening the future of her practice. There is plenty going on, but the story never loses its light and charming feel.

One of my favourite things about this book was the wonderful animal cast. As a lover of animals, I absolutely enjoyed the role they played in the story. They added plenty of warmth and some lovely lighter moments, and I’m sure they will steal the hearts of many animal lovers.

I also enjoyed the small-town setting. Honeysuckle Harbour feels like the kind of place where everyone knows your business, whether you want them to or not! Of course, in a cosy mystery, that also means there are plenty of opportunities for secrets, gossip and suspicious behaviour.

Murder at Honeysuckle Harbour was a light, entertaining read with a likeable protagonist, a charming setting, plenty of animals, a touch of romance and, naturally, a murder to solve.

If you are looking for a fun, easy read with a little bit of murder and a hint of romance, this one should definitely be added to your TBR. It was a lovely change of pace for me, and sometimes a cosy mystery is exactly what you need!
