Throughout their whole childhood, Finny and Autumn were inseparable—they finished each other’s sentences, they knew just what to say when the other person was hurting. But one incident in middle school puts them in separate social worlds come high school, and Autumn has always wondered what if…

The night she’s about to get the answer is also one of terrible tragedy.

Okay, so I finished this book a couple of days ago and I have tried to write this review multiple times but I was having such a hard time explaining how this made me feel.

This story is told from Autumn’s point of view. You get an insight into her entire life. The majority of the story is about her in high school and how she is coping with the changes in her life. And how she is juggling her future plans, her boyfriend Jamie and their friend group, and trying to deal with her complex relationship with her ex-best friend/neighbour, Finny.

This book truly was a rollercoaster of emotions. There were times in the book when I didn’t understand why we got so much backstory and information that at the moment felt useless. However, once you finish the book and sit with your feelings for a bit, you realise all that ‘useless’ information made the story so much more heartbreaking. You got to see Autumn as a truly deep and developed character as you got to see and feel everything that she went through. From her happiest moments to her saddest. You were feeling by the end of everything she was feeling because you were so emotionally attached to her at this point.

My favourite character was Autumn, I mean how could it not be? After everything you go through with her, it’s hard not to love her. Then of course my least favourite character was Jamie, wow, this guy was so manipulative and controlling and I really just wanted to slap him every time he said or did something.

I also recently found out that there is going to be a second book that is going to be told from Finny’s point of view, this October. I am super excited to get my hands on that one and I only hope that lives up to the hype that this book has.

I haven’t had a great year of reading so far however this book is an easy five-star rating for me. I think that is the second book to get this rating from me this year, so far. I would without a doubt recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a gut-wrenching story.

THIS SONG IS (NOT) FOR YOU

Ramona fell for Sam the moment she met him. It was like she had known him forever. He’s one of the few constants in her life, and their friendship is just too important to risk.

Sam loves Ramona, but he would never expect her to feel the same way she’s too quirky and cool for someone like him. Still, they complement each other perfectly, both as best friends and as a band.

Then they meet Tom. Tom makes music too, and he’s the band’s missing piece. The three quickly become inseparable. Except Ramona’s falling in love with Tom. But she hasn’t fallen out of love with Sam either. How can she be true to her feelings without breaking up the band?
