Ruth Ware has done it again — Zero Days had me completely hooked from the very first page. This book is intense, fast-paced, and had my heart racing the entire time.

I love that Ware took a slightly different direction with this one — stepping away from her usual locked-room style thrillers and giving us a high-stakes, action-driven cat-and-mouse chase. It felt like a blend of thriller and survival story, with that underlying mystery that keeps you guessing.

The premise is brilliant: Jack and Gabe are professional penetration testers — basically modern-day ethical hackers hired to break into buildings and test security systems. But when Jack comes home from what should have been a routine assignment, she finds Gabe murdered… and suddenly, she’s the prime suspect.

I connected with Jack as a character. She’s strong, resourceful, and determined, but Ware does a great job of showing her vulnerability and grief as well. You feel her desperation as she’s forced to go on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of both the police and a killer who doesn’t want the truth coming out.

There’s a real tension throughout — the pace never lets up, and just when you think Jack might catch a break, something else goes wrong. It kept me glued to the pages. I also loved how Ware weaves in the tech angle — it’s believable, modern, but never bogged down by heavy jargon.

I had my suspicions about the killer, but Ruth Ware loves to keep you second-guessing. The twists were smart, and the final reveal had me flipping back through pages thinking, “How did I miss that?”

Zero Days is an adrenaline-fuelled read with heart — it’s not just about the chase, but also about love, betrayal, and resilience. If you enjoy Ruth Ware’s writing but want something with a bit more action and pace, this one delivers.

I always enjoy Ruth Ware’s books and am not sure why I have not read more of them. I have a few sitting on my TBR shelf, and I am participating in the Blog Tour for The Woman in Suite 11 a little later this month. Keep an eye out for more about that one. Until next time… Happy Reading!
