Can you stop a murder after it’s already happened?
Late October. After midnight. You’re waiting up for your eighteen-year-old son. He’s past curfew. As you watch from the window, he emerges, and you realize he isn’t alone: he’s walking toward a man, and he’s armed.
You can’t believe it when you see him do it: your funny, happy teenage son, he kills a stranger, right there on the street outside your house. You don’t know who. You don’t know why. You only know your son is now in custody, his future shattered.
That night you fall asleep in despair. All is lost.
Until you wake . . .
. . . and it is yesterday.
And then you wake again . . .
. . . and it is the day before yesterday.
Every morning you wake up a day earlier, another day before the murder. With another chance to stop it. Somewhere in the past lies an answer. The trigger for this crime–and you don’t have a choice but to find it….

Official Summary

This book popped up as a Waterstones’ book of the month and I was so intrigued a placed an order for it immediately. Needless to so, my excitement about this one saw it moving to the top of my TBR immediately. What a fantastic read! When you reach for this book you can expect a crime novel told backwards, yes backwards. This is a brilliantly creative novel you will not be able to put down. I loved every minute of this book.

I am new to this author and after reading this book I have added her other books to my TBR. This book is original, creative and beautifully written. I found the story captivating and could not read it fast enough. The author did a wonderful job of telling this story in reverse, making it something different and wonderfully entertaining. I cannot wait to read more of her work.

How far would you go to save your child? When Jen witnesses her son killing a man on the street outside her house, she cannot believe what she is seeing. His arrest leaves her horrified, but when she wakes up the next morning to find it is one day before the murder she is baffled, yet determined to take advantage of the situation. As Jen keeps travelling further and further into the past, she discovers there are a lot of things she did not know about her family. Can she find the point in time that set events in motion and can she make the necessary changes to alter her son’s future without upsetting the future balance too much?

This mother’s love for her child leaves you rooting throughout the book. I loved how different this story was. It was brilliantly written and the twists along the way kept me glued to the pages. I could not race through this book fast enough.

This is an easy five-star rating. I loved this book and it has sailed onto my top ten for the year.

Jen is a mother who doubts her parenting skills. She battled to bond with her newborn baby and is convinced that something she did lead to Todd committing murder. She believes without a doubt that she is responsible for what has happened, that somehow she failed her child. Her journey through time allows her the opportunity to look at past events a second time around, seeing things she missed. Her journey is a heartwarming experience, allowing the reader to experience her love for her son as she discovers that while she might not be perfect, she did her best for her son.

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I loved this book. This is one of the best books I have read in a while. It is wonderfully entertaining, original and creative. I cannot find fault with this one at all.

If you are looking for a crime novel with a difference, an original story full of twists along the way that will keep you intrigued from start to end, then this is a must-read. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you haven’t yet, please read this book. You do not want to miss this brilliant story.
