By Lisa Jackson
WHEN A KILLER HAS NOTHING TO LOSE
The crime scene is as puzzling as it is brutal. Doctor Paul Latham and his wife, Brindel, are found dead in separate beds in their beautiful San Francisco home, each the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. There are no signs of forced entry, and despite the emptied safe, it’s clear this murder isn’t random.
THERE’S EVERY REASON
For Detective Regan Pescoli, news of her sister’s death brings grief mixed with guilt. She and Brindel weren’t close, and Pescoli barely knows her teenage niece, Ivy, a secretive girl who lands on her doorstep in Grizzly Falls, Montana. Though Pescoli is on maternity leave, she’s soon mired deep in the investigation headed by her partner, Selena Alvarez. But as the list of suspects keeps growing, so does the body count . . .
TO BE AFRAID . . .
Maybe it’s exhaustion or hormones that have Pescoli on edge, feeling more vulnerable than ever before. Or maybe the chill running through her veins is justified. Because as the case takes a new, terrifying turn, Pescoli’s loved ones and her life are at the mercy of a killer who’ll go to any lengths to see her suffer . . .
Official Summary
I discovered Lisa Jackson late in 2017 while browsing through my local library looking for something to read. I have been hooked ever since. This thriller, published in 2019, keeps you on the edge of your seat. I have not read this series in order, and Willing to Die was my introduction to Regan Pescoli. I was not even halfway through this book when I started looking for the other books in the series.
Lisa Jackson opens her books with a prologue that draws you right into the story before you have even reached the first chapter. I love that! She has an easy writing style that makes you relate to her realistic characters.
Regan Pescoli is on maternity leave when she finds out about the death of her sister, Brindel. Brindel and her husband were murdered, each a single gunshot to the head. Regan was not close to her sister, and her death leaves Pescoli feeling guilty for not making more of an effort. When her niece, whom she barely knows, lands on her doorstep Pescoli finds herself feeling exhausted, hormonal and on edge. She is caught up in the investigation and while the bodies pile up Pescoli and her family are at the mercy of a killer who wants her to suffer.
Being new to the series, I found myself feeling a little left out at the begin of this book. However, that did not take anything away from this story. If anything, it just encouraged me to add the previous books on my TBR (Which is getting pretty long lately). Pescoli and her family present an interesting storyline and I look forward to spending more time with them in the future.
As a mother to two teenage daughters, I just love what Lisa Jackson did with Bianca, Pescoli’s daughter – she is such an interesting character – I just love her. I look forward to reading more about her.
Yes, I loved this, and if you enjoyed any of Lisa Jackson’s other books you will enjoy this book as well. I would probably say it would be better to read the series in order, but I haven’t and I still found this to be a very enjoyable read.

Will Take His Secrets…
To journalist Nikki Gillette, this disturbing story is a ticket out of small-town Savannah and on to the big time. She’s already given the killer a nickname—The Grave Robber—and she’s spending every minute dogging tough cop Pierce Reed’s investigation, trailing him through Savannah’s deep thickets and crumbling cemeteries…even though she’s starting to wonder about the secrets he’s keeping…
To The Grave
Another body is found. And another. Each gruesome discovery unnerves Nikki a little more…there’s something familiar about it, something she should know. Now, as a serial killer pulls her ever deeper into his sick game, she has no idea how close she’s getting to the truth—or how deadly it will be…
