Official Summary

I went into this book, unsure what it was about. All I knew was that there were very differing opinions on this book. With some people loving it and some people hating it.

And I kind of see it from both sides. The writing style is very unique. I have never read a book so confusing. Everything felt like it was just one long riddle. No one was speaking probably, everyone was talking in code, including Candace, whose point of view we get. However, I kind of liked this aspect of the book. Candace is an unreliable narrator but you also can’t trust what anyone else says.

Overall, getting past the codes and riddles and actually getting into the story hooked me. I kind of saw the plot twist coming but only towards the second half of the book, so that’s good.

My favourite character was Gat. I think just because he wasn’t nearly as obnoxious and unaware as the other characters were.

This book weirdly took a lot out of me emotionally. It really was not what I was expecting, everyone told me this is a fun summer read. And it really isn’t it wasn’t fun, it was just sad. But I had such a good time reading this book.

I really would recommend reading this book, and if you to read it, I encourage you to go into it with an open mind and expect a very different writing technique.
