A fake-dating billionaire book  from New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation

Sweet, shy, and introverted despite her social media fame, Stella Alonso is a romantic who keeps her heart in a cage.

Between her two jobs, she has little time or desire for a relationship.

But when a threat from her past drives her into the arms―and house―of the most dangerous man she’s ever met, she’s tempted to let herself feel something for the first time in a long time.

Because despite Christian’s cold nature, he makes her feel everything when she’s with him.

Passionate.

Protected.

Truly wanted.

Theirs is a love twisted with secrets and tainted by lies…and when the truths are finally revealed, they could shatter everything.

Do you ever finish a book and just sit there, conflicted, because you liked it but also have some thoughts? Yeah, that was me with Twisted Lies. This book had me obsessed in some parts and frustrated in others, so let’s break it down.

First things first Christian Harper. If there was a blueprint for the ultimate morally grey character, Ana Huang studied it and then gave us him. I think my biggest complaint with this character is that Huang did a very typical thing. The main character is doing some very bad things and instead of taking accountability and changing for the better the author just gives us a side character who is just ten times worse. Now the main guy doesn’t look AS bad because AT LEAST he isn’t THAT bad and ever seen as a GOOD GUY in comparison. I mean Christian stalked Stella! Legit full-on stalked her. And instead of that being seen as a bad thing we just get a second stalker who instead of infiltrating her life and manipulating Stella into loving him, he was just aggressive. Now maybe it’s just me being crazy but I would find someone wanting to do me harm a lot less intrusive than someone manipulating me! However, I am well aware that it is just fiction and it’s not that deep, but I do wish there was better writing to get over the fact that their relationship started as a lie.

Now, Stella. She’s this sweet, people-pleasing fashion influencer, and I liked her more than I thought I would as I didn’t feel much of a connection with her in the other books as she was barely there, but I also wanted to shake her sometimes. Her character arc going from someone who lets others control her life to finally standing up for herself was solid, but there were moments when she felt a little too passive for my taste. Like, girl, please fight back sooner!

The romance? A slow burn in the truest sense. This book took its time, and while I love some good tension, I won’t lie there were moments where it dragged. Once things finally took off, though?

Overall Twisted Lies is a solid book and I am glad I am now finished with the Twisted series as I have been making my way through these books for years. My reviews for another Ana Huang series will soon follow so stay tuned for that!
