Official Summary
Michael Connelly has succeeded in turning his Harry Bosch character into an extremely popular, well-known name. Whatever social media channel you follow, you are sure to come across a mention of the latest Bosch book or TV series. The mystery and suspense keep us glued waiting for the next exciting chapter or series.
I have been following the Bosch series for a couple of years and it never loses its appeal. Michael Connelly has created a likeable character and the casting team for the TV series did a wonderful job putting a face to Harry Bosch. This book like the others in the series is told in a laid back, relaxed style which we have come to expect from Harry Bosch. As always, he appears calm and relaxed, never allowing a situation to get the better of him. Michael Connelly has managed to maintain a rhythm we have come to expect.
The Wrong Side of Goodbye has Harry Bosch, now a private investigator, taking on a missing person case, but does this missing person exist? The story of a billionaire whose great loved disappeared just after revealing that she was pregnant, and he did not try to find her at the time. Now it is up to Harry to dig into the past, to find out if the child was ever born, and what happened to that child. Harry soon finds out that find the billionaire’s only living relative could lead down a dangerous path, not only is Harry at risk, but the person he is looking for could be in danger too.
Harry Bosch never disappoints and when you pick up one of the books in the Bosch series you are guaranteed a good storyline. This book was no exception. I was a little disappointed when I discovered that Harry has left the LAPD when I pick up this book. I have not been reading them in order, else I guess I would have known that. But Harry has not lost any of his charms and the inclusion of Mickey Haller added to this books appeal.
Michael Connelly has created a world filled with realistic characters and picking a favourite among them is no easy feat. I generally favour a secondary character, but when it comes to this series Harry Bosch stands a head and shoulders above the rest. He is a real man; he has issues and flaws and a past that stays with him. How could you not love this character?
As a fan of the Harry Bosch series, I have to give this a thumbs up. I have heard people say that Michael Connelly is too descriptive, dragging his scenes out too long and not getting to the point fast enough, but I do not agree – I love his books and all the little details he includes make for a great reading experience. I love this!
Are you into, suspense, crime and mystery? Then this is the series for you. You can pick any of the books in the Bosch series and you are guaranteed a good read!
