By Ruth Ware
This was meant to be the perfect trip. The Northern Lights. A luxury press launch on a boutique cruise ship. A chance for travel journalist Lo Blacklock to recover from a traumatic break-in that has left her on the verge of collapse.
Except things don’t go as planned.
Woken in the night by screams, Lo rushes to her window to see a body thrown overboard from the next-door cabin. But the records show that no-one ever checked into that cabin, and no passengers are missing from the boat.
Exhausted and emotional, Lo has to face the fact that she may have made a mistake – either that, or she is now trapped on a boat with a murdered….
Official Summary
The Woman in Cabin 10 is the second Ruth Ware book I have read (my first was The Turn of the Key). This psychological thriller is a compulsively readable book that will have you hooked from the first page. I enjoyed The Turn of the Key, and The Woman in Cabin 10 was even better. This modern-day novel has a plot worthy of as classic Agatha Christie story. This mystery carries you off to sea on a luxury cruise liner and adds murder to the mix. You will not be able to turn the pages fast enough in this spooking, highly engaging book.
Lo Blacklock, a travel journalist, accepts an assignment to cover the maiden voyage of a brand-new luxury cruise liner through the fjords of Norway. Having recently been burgled, Lo is eager to escape her apartment. Convinced that this assignment would be relaxing and calming, she is sure it will be the perfect vacation. Luckily for us, that is not what happens. Her first night onboard, Lo witnesses a woman being thrown overboard from the cabin next door to hers. But when she notifies the ship security, all the passengers are accounted for.
This story is full of classic mystery and suspense. The structure of this story is a guaranteed hit – a crime committed on a ship at sea and everyone is a suspect – that has to bring Agatha Christie to mind. However, Lo is alone in her belief that a crime has been committed, there is no record of the mystery woman Lo saw in the cabin next to hers and no-one is missing. Was Lo mistaken? Is she a trustworthy narrator? The twists and turns in this story make it a wonderfully plotted lock-room suspense.
If you have ever read an Agatha Christie mystery, then you will find a lot of elements of her classic suspense in this novel. This story has you following the narrator as she discovers that she is stuck with a group of strangers and she is convinced one of them is guilty. As Lo casts suspicion on her fellow travels she soon discovers that she is caught up in a conspiracy bigger than she ever could have imagined.
This one is high on my recommendation list. A perfect crime read with loads of atmosphere, twists and turns and addictive mystery. This is fun reading at its best, suspense, mystery, intrigue and surprises all the way. I loved this book. If you are new to crime fiction or a seasoned fan you will enjoy this book!

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something which I think
I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
Thank you
