This book landed on my TBR because I was intrigued by the blurb. I requested it not because I know the author, but simply because I was intrigued. What a fabulous read it turned out to be. I have already started hunting for a copy of the author’s other book – The Prank.
When you reach for this book, you are heading down a twisty path of a brilliantly written tale. The story will keep you engrossed and you will not want to put this book down. I raced from page to page eagerly. I just could not read this one fast enough.
The story is told from both Core and Margo’s perspectives, moving from one to the other between the chapters. These two sisters are very different and you are drawn to both. They share their story with you leaving you amazed at the different opinions they have. The author draws you into these sisters’ world beautifully with this original story. L V Matthews writes a compelling tale, I am eager to read more of her work.
Margo is a live-in nanny and Cora is a dancer on the cusp of her big break into the dance world. They are very different, but as twins, they share a remarkable bond. Haunted by an unhappy childhood, the secrets of their past are returning to haunt them. Can their bond survive the jealousy and rivalry they are living with? Or will the past destroy them forever?
This book had me hooked from the very first page, I battled to put this one down. I loved the bond and rivalry between these sisters. I could feel Margo’s confusion and heartbreak and understood her jealousy of Annie. The author did a fabulous job with these characters – leaving you sharing the emotions as you read this book.
There was no picking between these sisters. I found myself intrigued by both these young women. They are very different, yet as you get to know them you are unable to pick a side. Cora comes across as harsh and selfish, but you soon realise that she is simply looking out for Margo – even if she goes about it all wrong. And Margo’s love for her sister, her need for Cora’s presence in her life steals your heart. I loved when Margo started showing some strength of her own but was left miserable by the horrors she uncovered.
I loved every minute of this book and would highly recommend this one to fans of a twisty, unpredictable psychological thriller. Go ahead, add this one to your TBR, you will love this gripping, original tale!
