Official Summary

This book is terrifying, dark and creepy and you will be glued to the edge of your seat as you flip the pages. I work my way through David Jackson’s DS Nathan Cody series last year, so I was super excited when Alicia gave me a copy of this book. I was not prepared for just how dark this one would be. The Resident is not for the faint-hearted… when you reach for this book you can expect a creepy, thrilling read you will not want to walk away from.

David Jackson draws you into the mind of a seriously twisted individual and keeps you in awe with his utterly compulsive tale. This story is seriously twisted, yet you are unable to put this book down. The writing is clever and creative making this book a brilliant, addictive read.

Thomas Brogan is a serial killer on the run. While hiding away in an abandoned house he discovers that the attic of the abandoned house is connected to the houses next door. This is a dream come true for a man who enjoys playing with his victims. The residents are unaware of Brogan’s presence, but soon they will know he is there.

This was a deliciously dark story that I could not race through fast enough. I love how cleverly thrilling this book is. You should know, my house does not have an attic – I am not sure I will ever be able to live in a house with an attic after reading this book. David Jackson is brilliant and I cannot wait to read more of his wickedly twisted tales.

As you get to know Thomas Brogan you are left amazed by the author’s creativity. This creepy killer will leave you with a smile on your face from time to time while sending your heart racing at other. What a fabulously dark man. You cannot help but be fascinated by this creepy character.

While The Resident is dark and creepy it is an edge-of-your-seat read. I loved this book even if I was seriously creeped out while reading some of it. If you are not sensitive, I do not doubt that you will find this book to be a compelling read.

Fans of dark, creepy and twisty thrillers will not be able to put this book down. I highly recommend this book if you are keen to be kept awake at night. Reading this book will leave you jumping at every creak you hear as you wonder who might be watching. If you have an attic – you will never feel safe again.

About the Author

Author bio from the author’s site

I am the author of a series of crime thrillers featuring Irish-American NYPD Detective Callum Doyle. The first in the series, Pariah, was Highly Commended in the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger Awards. It is published by Pan Macmillan. The follow-ups are The Helper and Marked, and I am hard at work on the fourth in the series. My writing influences include Ed McBain, Dennis Lehane, George Pelecanos, Robert Crais, Michael Connelly and Harlan Coben, amongst many others. My favourite quote about my work is one from the Guardian, now carried on the front of my novels: ‘Recalls Harlan Coben – though for my money Jackson is the better writer.’

Thank you to Alicia for a copy of this book. I loved it!

Thank you for visiting the blog and reading my review, if this story is a little too creepy for your taste – I apologise, I loved this dark tale. Until next time…Happy Reading!
