Don’t miss this New York Times bestselling “impossible to put down” (Buzzfeed) novel with deadly stakes, thrilling twists, and juicy secrets–perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying and Knives Out.
Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why — or even who Tobias Hawthorne is.
To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man’s touch — and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes. Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-woman, and he’s determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather’s last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.

I have got to say, so far this year I have had an amazing year of reading. This is my fourth five-star read so far this year.
This book is amazing, truly. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout this whole book. I loved the mystery in this book.
Avery Grambs is a girl who is seriously struggling in life but that all changes when she gets told she was written into Tobias Hawthrone’s will. A billionaire. However, she only gets the money if she lives in the Hawthorne mansion for a whole year. The mansion is filled with Tobias’s family that all got screwed over in the will. Four of those family members are his grandsons. Who all believe that there is more to this than there seems.
I will say I loved Avery and Libby’s relationship in this. Libby is such a good sister. I loved how supportive and protective they were of each other. I also just in general loved Libby, I mean she was a sweetheart. I also laughed so hard when Libby thought the letters she was getting from the lawyers were scams and just threw them away for weeks.
I think my favourite character had to be Tobias Hawthorne. Even though he is dead from page one. I think I just liked how curious I was about him. I found him to be such an interesting character that I couldn’t get enough of. Especially since everyone in the book saw him differently and no one truly knew him.
I will say I was also very fascinated with Jameson. He is the second youngest of the four boys. I can’t even tell you why. I find it funny because you can tell that he is the author’s favourite of the four boys. After all, he got the most character development and depth.
I am still casually waiting for some old guy to add me to his will. Honestly, I would not be as modest as Avery, all that money would burn a hole in my pocket. I could sadly see me spending all those billions in one day.
Overall, I would defiantly recommend this book to everyone. I look forward to reading the next two in the series.
Luckily school will be over soon, so I will be able to read a lot more so stay tuned for more reviews from me.

The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Kira Bennett’s earliest memories are of living alone and wild in the woods. She has no idea how long she was on her own or what she had to do to survive, but she remembers the moment that Cady Bennett and one of her search-and-rescue dogs found her perfectly. Adopted into the Bennett family, Kira still struggles with human interaction years later, but she excels at the family business: search-and-rescue. Along with Cady’s son, Jude, and their neighbour, Free, Kira works alongside Cady to train the world’s most elite search-and-rescue dogs. Someday, all three teenagers hope to put their skills to use, finding the lost and bringing them home.
But when Cady’s estranged father, the enigmatic Bales Bennett, tracks his daughter down and asks for her help in locating a missing child – one of several visitors who has disappeared in the Sierra Glades National Park in the past twelve months – the teens find themselves on the frontlines sooner than they could have ever expected. As the search through 750,000 acres of unbridled wilderness intensifies, Kira becomes obsessed with finding the missing child. She knows all too well what it’s like to be lost in the wilderness, fighting for survival, alone.
But this case isn’t simple. There is more afoot than a single, missing girl, and Kira’s memories threaten to overwhelm her at every turn. As the danger mounts and long-held family secrets come to light, Kira is forced to question everything she thought she knew about her adopted family, her true nature, and her past.
