If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in ten sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from domineering parents to assault. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband’s death.
Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods. When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

If like me, you are new to this writing duo, I suggest that you prepare yourself to be blown away. The Golden Couple is an edge of your seat psychological read that will keep you awake while you refuse to put this book down. I could not drag myself away from this one, even reading at the office during every spare second. I cannot wait to say this: “I LOVED this book” The story centres around a woman who cheats on her husband and turns to a maverick therapist with unusual methods in an attempt to save her marriage. However, there are so many secrets that need to be uncovered that I promise you will flick these pages faster than normal.
While I am new to this writing duo, they have found something special in their work. I found myself completely engrossed in this story. I loved the way I was drawn into the lives of the characters and eager for all their secrets to be revealed. This was a gripping read and while I left this one very close to my tour deadline I could not get enough. Needless to say, I am planning some book shopping. I cannot wait to get my hands on the other three books these ladies worked on. (I hope they are available locally.)
Marissa and Mathew Bishop are The Golden Couple. They are successful and good looking. When they enter a room you are forced to look at them. However, when Marissa cheats on Mathew she is wrapped in guilt and seeks out the maverick therapist she read about in a magazine article. Avery Chambers lost her licence due to her unusual methods, but she guarantees results in ten sessions.
When Marissa admits to her infidelity during their first session with Avery, she is not sure Mathew will ever forgive her. However, there is more to the Bishops than meets the eye. Soon these three are heading for a collision they would never have expected.
I was deeply engrossed in this book. The story was gripping and unpredictable with a brilliant twist – but you will have to read this one to find out more about that. This book is a brilliant escape that leaves you oblivious to your surroundings. This is a book you can read in a crowded room and still not be distracted.
Initially, I found myself drawn to Marissa. Despite having strong beliefs about there never being a valid reason for infidelity I felt sorry for her and almost managed to excuse her behaviour. That changed, after a few chapters I was not sure if I trusted her. This woman has the perfect husband, and still, she cheated. I found Mathew to be an unpredictable character and could never decide if I liked him or not, but he decided to give his marriage a chance, how bad could he be.
Avery is the character that will keep you intrigued from start to finish. The woman is a brilliant creation and I simply loved her. I loved her apparent fearless attitude. But she adopted a dog no-one wanted – she is a woman with a love for animals so despite her intrusive behaviour she really could do no wrong in my eyes. An animal lover always steals my heart. Some of Romeo’s behaviours I have witnessed in my dogs so naturally, this guy stole my heart.
I gave this book a five-star rating on Good Reads. Yes, as I have already mentioned, I loved it. I found this to be a gripping, intriguing read that had me racing to reach the end, and not just to ensure I met my tour deadline. I could not put this book down.
If you enjoy psychological fiction you are guaranteed to love this title. This is a book about love, trust, loss, grief and family. But be warned, the authors deliver a twist at the end that is guaranteed to leave you with whip-lash! This is a simply brilliant read that I cannot recommend highly enough!
This writing duo has something special in this book and I cannot wait to read more of their work. If their other books are half as good as this one, I foresee a few sleepless nights and a family with take-out for dinner….
