Official Summary
A friend gave me a copy of this audiobook a while back and it’s has been sitting on my playlist for a while because I am not familiar with Robert Bryndza. I finally got to listening to it and what an entertaining ebook. This crime thriller had me hooked and I made time to listen, eager to find out where the investigation would lead DCI Erika Foster.
I found this book to have everything I loved about crime thrillers, detectives on the chase as bodies are piling up and not sure who the killer was. The author capturing my imagination as the clues slowly lead to the truth behind the crimes. The author managed to keep me guessing and landed a huge surprise when the truth is revealed. I cannot wait to get my hands on more books by this author.
Erika Foster returns to duty after losing her husband in the line of duty, to be thrown headfirst into the murder investigation of a young socialite Andre Douglas-Brown. From the get-go, the family is not very helpful and are clearly more concerned with a media scandal than finding out the truth about Andrea’s murder.
Erika soon finds that the influential Douglas-Brown family has a lot more influence on her investigation than she realises and is soon suspended. But Erika refuses to walk away, determined to find justice for Andrea and stays in touch with the officers on the case, eager to find the truth. When her life is in danger she is even more determined to find the killer.
Can she put the pieces together in time or will she become the next victim?
This is a brilliant crime thriller that had been completely engrossed in the story. I enjoyed the characters and found this to be a brilliant escape from reality – exactly what I love about a book.
Erika Foster is a stubborn, determined woman who fights for what she believes in and will not give up her quest for the truth. I just love this character and look forward to reading more about her.
The characters in the book were a colourful mix ranging from rich to poor making for an interesting read. I loved Ivy, her snotty attitude and fast words added some spunk to the story.
This book was time well spent. I have already made a note to find other books in the series. The Girls in the Ice is an intense read that will keep you speculating right to the end. Yep, I loved it.
The Girls in the Ice is perfect for Crime and Thriller enthusiasts. If you enjoy a fast-paced read that keeps you on the edge of your seat while you wait for the truth to be revealed then you will love this book.
