Last summer, Alice Ogilve’s basketball-star boyfriend Steve dumped her. Then she disappeared for five days. Where she went and what happened to her is the biggest mystery in Castle Cove, because she’s not talking. Or it was, at least. But now, another one of Steve’s girlfriends has vanished: Brooke Donovan, Alice’s ex-best friend. And it doesn’t look like Brooke will be coming back. . .
Enter Iris Adams, Alice’s tutor. Iris has her own reasons for wanting to disappear, though unlike Alice, she doesn’t have the money or the means. That could be changed by the hefty reward Brooke’s grandmother is offering to anyone who can share information about her granddaughter’s whereabouts. The police are convinced Steve is the culprit, but Alice isn’t so sure, and with Iris on her side, she just might be able to prove her theory.
In order to get the reward and prove Steve’s innocence, they need to figure out who killed Brooke Donovan. And luckily Alice has exactly what they need—the complete works of Agatha Christie. If there’s anyone that can teach the girls how to solve a mystery it’s the master herself. But the town of Castle Cove holds many secrets, and Alice and Iris have no idea how much danger they’re about to walk into

Official Summary

Brooke Donavan is a popular rich teenage girl who goes missing. The cops’ first suspect is Steve, her boyfriend. However, Alice believes that Steve is innocent and plans on proving it.

The Agathas is a murder mystery told from two points of view. Alice, who used to be popular and one of Brooke’s best friends, until her own mysterious disappearance. Iris is Alice’s tutor and she needs the reward money that comes with information about Brooke. Together this duo must find out what happened to Brooke Donavan.

I liked the fact that we got a dual point of view. I liked that we got to see the story through two people’s eyes. I also liked how you saw Brooke through the eyes of someone who knew her well and through the eyes of a stranger. I liked how Alice and Iris were also from different backgrounds and yet so similar.

I will say this book had amazing twists and turns. I am normally pretty good at guessing who the murderer is in these types of books. However, in this book, I had no clue who the killer was until it was revealed. This book honestly had me on the edge of my seat.

My favourite character had to be Iris, I just liked her character, I found her character to have the most depth and we sort of get the most information about her.

I will say, if there is ever a sequel to this book, I think it would be great to have the characters have more to them. I would not mind getting to know more about Spike. I don’t know, his character just seems to have a lot of potential.

Overall this book was a good read. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good whodunit.

Girl in Pieces

Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don’t have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you.
Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

The Lucky One

How do you put yourself back together when it seems like you’ve lost it all?
May is a survivor. But she doesn’t feel like one. She feels angry. And lost. And alone. Eleven months after the school shooting that killed her twin brother, May still doesn’t know why she was the only one to walk out of the band room that day. No one gets what she went through–no one saw and heard what she did. No one can possibly understand how it feels to be her.
Zach lost his old life when his mother decided to defend the shooter. His girlfriend dumped him, his friends bailed, and now he spends his time hanging out with his little sister…and the one faithful friend who stuck around. His best friend is needy and demanding, but he won’t let Zach disappear into himself. Which is how Zach ends up at band practice that night. The same night May goes with her best friend to audition for a new band.
Which is how May meets Zach. And how Zach meets May. And how both might figure out that surviving could be an option after all.
