Official Summary

I don’t even know where to start with this book, because it broke my heart. Although it will never come close to Joey’s level of sadness it was still so sad. This book was supposed to be about the sunshine characters. Claire and Gerard, ‘Gibsie’ and although they both come across as super happy characters in all the other books sadly, they too are just as messed up as everyone else in this series.
I have now read five books in this series, and am now officially emotionally invested. I am somewhat upset that Claire and Gibsie aren’t getting a second book, however, it makes sense as their story is told and these two didn’t have as much conflict as the other two pairings in this series. Although the disproportional books on my bookshelf are going to slightly drive me mad.
This book was a hard read for two reasons, one the pacing in this book was just way too off when compared to the others. Second, Gibsie’s backstory and trauma were a lot to read about, and it was super heavy. I think purely just because he was such a happy character through everybody else’s eyes and no one could see how much he was struggling.
Then there was also all the drama with Lizzie which was depressing. I am not even joking when I say I think Lizzie’s book will break me in half. I know people either love or absolutely hate Lizzie’s character and I can fully understand both sides. I think Lizzie and Claire’s drama in this book was harsh. I mean I feel like I can sympathize with both parties. However, I want to see Lizzie’s point of view.
Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first four books in this series.
