Official Summary

Leave it to Colleen Hoover to make me an emotional mess for the second time within a week. I had just finished Layla then I decided this one had been sitting on my shelf a lot longer than Layla had so it only seemed fair that I finally read it.

Considering this is Colleen Hoover’s debut novel it was amazing, it still had that CoHo feel that all her other books have.

This book follows Layken who moves with her mother and younger brother to a new city, after her father’s death. She soon meets Will, her new neighbour whom she immediately falls in love with. However, they soon realise there are obstacles standing in their way.

I will say the whole power imbalance between Will and Layken aside my least favourite thing about the book is the instant love aspect. Within five minutes of their first date, they are already in love with each other which is not my cup of tea.

I loved the relationship between the two little brothers. I also loved Eddie she was such a good friend to Lake and I loved her character overall.

What killed me in this book was all the plot twists and everything that Lake had gone through with her family and all the hardship she will still have to go through. Honestly, the whole storyline with her mother was just plain sad.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute and quick read.

Regretting You

Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.
Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.
With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heart-breaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.
While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together
