They Don’t know what I did. And I intend to keep it that way.

When Milla is invited to a reunion in the French Alps resort that saw the peak of her snowboarding career, she drops everything to go. While she would rather forget the events of that winter, the invitation comes from Curtis, the one person she can’t seem to let go.

The five friends haven’t seen each other for ten years, since the disappearance of the beautiful and enigmatic Saskia. But when an icebreaker game turns menacing, they realise they don’t know who has gathered them there and how far they will go to find the truth.

In a deserted lodge high up a mountain, the secrets of the past are about to come to light.

Official Summary

Congrats to Allie Reynolds – Shiver is a bone-chilling thriller, guaranteed to have you completely enthralled from the very first page! This debut thriller explores friendships, love and the competitive nature of professional athletes. Shiver takes the reader on a journey into the French Alps with stunning scene descriptions and a chilling tale of just how far some athletes will go to secure victory.

Shiver is divided into sixty-four chapters, each titled Present Day or Ten Years Ago, making it easy to keep track of where you are in the story. The author created a brilliantly captivating tale with realistic characters, stunning scene descriptions and events that keep you guessing right to the end. A fantastic debut novel that has left me very eager to see what Allie Reynolds will bring us next.

At the peak of her snowboarding career in the French Alps, Milla’s season does not turn out exactly as she had hoped. Ten years later, she receives an invite to a reunion from Curtis, the one person she has never been able to forget. Shortly after arriving at the deserted lodge, an icebreaker game reveals that someone is looking for the truth about what happened during that season ten years ago. Milla has her own secret, will she be able to keep the other from finding out what she is hiding?

Confession: I have never seen snow….. no never. Reading Shiver highlighted just how much I have been missing out on. Allie Reynolds described the scenery in such detail that I could feel the cold creep into my bones as I turned the pages. Her experience as a snowboarder showed in the detail she added to the story. Providing a reader with no experience in snowboarding a front-row seat to the experiences these athletes have. I loved how I could feel my stomach drop right along with Milla’s during every flip she performed.

The characters simply leapt off the page and straight into my heart! I enjoyed how no-one was perfect, each character has some little issues, making them realistic and relatable. Saskia was simply evil, so much so that you could not help loving her. Milla appeared sweet and a little naïve to start with, but I loved how she turned into a force to be reckoned with. A strong character determined to succeed – loved her!

I guess it is obvious – I LOVED this book! This is without a doubt a new author you simply have to read this year, Shiver will have you entertained way into the night – my family had to endure burnt dinner twice while I was reading this – it’s so good you just cannot pull yourself away…….

Thriller enthusiast, be prepared to fall in love with this author – Shiver is a bone-chilling tale that keeps you guessing and provides a jaw-dropping twist at the end!

If you only explore one new author this year – don’t miss out – make sure you spend some time with Allie Reynold’s Shiver – you will not be disappointed.
