I have been enjoying Mary Kubica’s books and couldn’t wait to start this one. The book is a gripping and atmospheric thriller that plunges you into the complexities of a nurse’s life while unravelling a mystery that becomes increasingly personal and dangerous. The story’s blend of suspense, emotional depth and unexpected twists makes it a compelling read from beginning to end.

The protagonist, Meghan Michaels, is portrayed with a striking authenticity. As a single mother balancing her demanding job as an ICU nurse and raising a teenage daughter, Meghan’s life is a constant juggling act. Kubica does an excellent job of portraying the everyday struggles and stresses that come with Meghan’s dual roles, making her a relatable and sympathetic character.
