One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

Official Summary

So, this book isn’t my go-to genre. I had seen this book everywhere and decided to give it a go and boy am I glad I did! This book is what you would get if The Breakfast Club and Gossip Girl had a baby. This book had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. It had me second-guessing every character in the book. In One of Us is Lying you get to see from every suspect’s point of view, this helps you connect with every main character.

My favourite character had to be Bronwyn however I think that is because we got to see more from her point of view. I would have loved to have seen more from Cooper and even Addy. I felt like we didn’t have enough of these two in this book. They sort of just felt like side characters in the Nate and Bronwyn story. Don’t get me wrong I loved the Nate and Bronwyn storyline but it sort of outshined the other characters and their growth.

I will say the author did an amazing job because I honestly did not expect that twist in the end. It honestly had me stunned. I had about a thousand theories about what happened to Simon and not one was right.

If you are looking for a quick and fun read, read One of Us is Lying. I read this book in two days and I have a habit of procrastinating when it comes to reading, but I just couldn’t put it down. I would defiantly recommend this book. Five out of five stars from me.

I am busy reading One of Us is Next so stay tuned for that review.
