A LUXURY CHALET. AN OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME.
UNTIL GUESTS START TO DISAPPEAR…
Getting snowed in at a beautiful, rustic mountain chalet doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world, especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a cozy fire, and company to keep you warm. But what happens when that company is eight of your co-workers…and you can’t trust any of them?
When an off-site company retreat meant to promote mindfulness and collaboration goes utterly wrong and an avalanche hits, the corporate food chain becomes irrelevant and survival trumps togetherness. Come Monday morning, how many members short will the team be?
Official Summary
I have been dying to get my hands on this book, I love Ruth Ware’s writing. One by One is true to Ruth Ware’s style. It’s full of chilling suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat as the bodies pile up and the mystery intensifies.
This author has a bit of an old school style with her intense mystery and gripping storytelling. This is my fourth book by her and every time I read any of her work I am left wanting more. I look forward to reading another of her books as I have no doubt it will be a wonderful read.
When a corporate group are stuck in a ski resort after an avalanche, the bodies start appearing and they seem to be dying one by one. With a potential buy-out in the process, there is one person who stands to gain by the deaths. However, something is not right, why would the CEO murder his partner and his best friend…
The intro of this book made for a slow start, initially I did not enjoy the technical aspects and the mention of each character’s snoop ID and followers was a little annoying. But the further along I got, the more I found myself completely engrossed. Midway through I could not pull myself away. I raced through the second half of this book in one sitting. I simply had to know who the guilty party was. Naturally, it was the least obvious choice making for a satisfying conclusion.
The characters were a colourful mix of upper-class snobs and everyday working-class people who are stuck in a secluded lodge under the worst imaginable circumstances. As each character deals with their fears and mistrust of those around them the climate chills as you turn the pages.
I loved this book. One by One is full of suspense and murder and action-packed dangerous skiing scenes that leave you holding your breath as you expect yet another death.
Ruth Ware delivers yet again, and this book will keep fans coming back for more. This truly brilliant suspense thriller is guaranteed to see you holding your breath as you race to the end.
