A new series about love, curses, and the lengths that people will go to for happily ever after.

Evangeline Fox was raised in her beloved father’s curiosity shop, where she grew up on legends about immortals, like the tragic Prince of Hearts. She knows his powers are mythic, his kiss is worth dying for, and that bargains with him rarely end well.

But when Evangeline learns that the love of her life is about to marry another, she becomes desperate enough to offer the Prince of Hearts whatever he wants in exchange for his help to stop the wedding. The prince only asks for three kisses. But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’s pledged. And he has plans for Evangeline that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or the most exquisite tragedy…

Official Summary

31 January 2023

This book follows Evangeline Fox a girl who decides to pray to a Fate. But not just any Fate but the Prince of Hearts. She wants him to stop a wedding, the love of her life’s wedding. She will do anything to stop this wedding and in exchange, she promises him three kisses. However, she soon realises that there is more going on than she agreed to and eventually must solve a murder she is accused of.

I think this book may be my new all-time favourite. I’m not sure why but there was something about this book that had my attention from the first page to the very last. This is very rare for me as I find more often than not I lose interest very quickly. However, this book was beautifully written. The mystery in this book was also super well written, it had me suspicious of everyone and yet still shocked me at the end. That plot twist at the end was done so well that I wanted to RUN to the closest bookstore to buy the next one.

My favourite character was Evangeline purely because she was the character that had the most depth to her. As much as I liked Eva, there were times when I wanted to strangle her. This is because of the choices she makes sometimes and how she was so blinded towards certain people and things. Yet she is still a likeable character. I also loved LaLa and I hope and pray we get more of her in the next book.

My first five-star read for twenty twenty-three! I read this book in less than two days and considering this book had more than four hundred pages that is pretty impressive for me.

I honestly could not recommend this book enough. I very much look forward to the rest of this series.

Caraval

A legendary competition.

A mesmerizing romance.

An unbreakable bond between two sisters.

Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny island where she and her sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval—the faraway, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show—are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt-of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. Nevertheless she becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic. And whether Caraval is real or not, Scarlett must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over or a dangerous domino effect of consequences will be set off, and her beloved sister will disappear forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . beware of getting swept too far away.
