October in a Nutshell

October has been an extremely exciting month for me. I finally launched my blog and I have been working nonstop. No matter how much research you do about starting a blog, believe me, there are still a gazillion things no-one tells you about. Not that I am complaining, this project might have kept me busy, but I am loving every minute.

Thank you to Lena from What Mommy Does, Maliha from The Side Blogger  and Cath from Catherine Oneissy your articles on blogging has been a huge help and much appreciated!

The good news, despite having a hectic October, I still managed to work my way through almost 8 books. Here they in the order that I read them in.

The Secrets She Keeps

By Michael Robotham

This book has been sitting on my shelf for a while. I have put off reading this because I discovered it didn’t feature Joe O’Loughlin, my favourite Michael Robotham character. Yet this book turned into a very good read and I am disappointed in myself for taking so long to read it. See my full review on this one.

Did you know there is a TV series about this book? After reading the book I had my family watch the series, just so I could share this with them.

Breakers

By Barry Litherland

My first review book for onlinebookclub.org. I have never heard of Barry Litherland and I started this book a little unsure about my choice. It turned out a very pleasant surprise and I would recommend this if you can stomach a little paranormal fiction. See my review

The Third Victim

By Lisa Gardner

The one good thing about the lockdown, I discovered that I enjoy audiobooks. It’s so nice to be able to listen to a book while doing something else. (I crochet and bullet journal, and an audiobook has become part of these hobbies now.)

The Third Victim was my 17th audiobook since June. I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan which made listening to this book a lot of fun. I just love Quincy – and Rainie has grown on me as well.

Right Behind You

By Lisa Gardner

Audiobook number 18

This book features Quincy and Rainie and listening to this straight after The Third Victim it was as if the story just continued. I have been catching up on some of the older Lisa Gardner books lately and this one did not disappoint. If you have not read the older books, it is very much worth your while. The older books are still available online, or you could always visit the library.)

Tidal Pools

By Robert Marier

This was an onlinebookclub.org review book. It was a short book and a very quick read.

Absolute Fear

By Lisa Jackson

Another author I am an absolute sucker for. Lisa Jackson does add a little more romance to her crime novels than say Lisa Gardner, but she manages to keep it from overpowering her stories. This book with all its dead bodies piling up made it a very entertaining read.

Merciless

By Richard Montanari

Narrator: Scott Brick

I have not yet finished this audiobook, but so far, I have enjoyed this story. I will post a full review as soon as I am done. One of the main reasons for picking this was because Scott Brick is the narrator – I just love his voice!

Shatter Me

By Tahereh Mafi

Almost finished, I have a few chapters to go. Honestly, the only reason I am reading this book is that my 16-year-old daughter practically begged me to. She wants someone to discuss the story with, and of course, mom cannot say no when it comes to books……

My Favourite book this Month

The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham

This might be an old book, but this story stayed with me long after reading it. If you haven’t read this get your hands on a copy, you will not be disappointed!

Thank you to everyone who supported me this month.

Until next month, Happy Reading
