November in a Nutshell

That's a Wrap!

November has ended so quickly; it feels like no more than a blur. This month has been a busy one for me with some changes in my day job which left me with less than my usual reading time. On top of that, Alicia has been busy with year-end exams and her absence has been felt on the blog. I am looking forward to having her contributions back in December. The good news, now that November is a thing of the past, I am ready to embrace the Christmas spirit. This weekend it’s time for the Christmas tree.

This month I managed to add twelve new reviews to the blog, if you missed any of them, here is an update:

02 November 2022 – The Marriage by KL Slater

I am new to this author and find that I really enjoy her work. This book was my hundredth read for the year and this shocking tale is guaranteed to keep you glued to your seat. I could not race through this book fast enough. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

03 November 2022 – The Veteran by Will Patching

This blog tour book was not what I expected. This is a clever, twisty psychological thriller that will keep you gripped. I found myself completely wrapped up in this one, both loving and hating the characters as I flipped the pages. I could not get to the end fast enough and once I did all I wanted to do was tell someone all about it.

04 November 2022 – It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

Alicia was super excited about receiving a copy of this book on publication day. That does not happen often. A huge thank you to Jonathan Ball Publishers for sending this one to us.

Alicia says: “I loved this series and would recommend everyone who enjoyed the first book to pick this one up as it gives you a lot of information and character development you never knew you needed.”

07 November 2022 – The Imposter by Leone Deakin

My second blog tour book for November, and true to form, I started this series a little late. I have not read the previous three books, but The Imposter was a brilliant read. I would recommend starting the series at the beginning. I found I was missing some information – but nothing too serious. I was able to keep up and follow the storyline. I am left curious enough to have added the previous three books to my TBR.

09 November 2022 – November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Alicia has had this one on her shelf for a while, and we had to post this one on November 9. What she has to say about this one: “I loved the overall message behind Fallon’s character, the positivity that she learns and even though there are times you want to yell at her (especially when it comes to her choice in love interests) you cannot help but root for her and hope she gets her happy ending.”

10 November 2022 – The Daughter in Law by Shalini Boland

This author has become one of my favourites. Whenever I am looking for a lighter, gripping tale about realistic characters I know I will not be disappointed by reading one of her books. I received an ARC of this one from NetGalley and was not left disappointed. If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend you give this author a try. Her work is light and entertaining and will you will love this twisty tale.

14 November 2022 – The Girl Before – JP Delaney

This book was first published in 2017, so this is not a new one. I see there is even a TV series based on this story too (no I have not seen it.) I was completely intrigued by this book. I ended up with a copy of this book after confusing the author with someone else, and then I discovered JP Delaney is a pseudonym – it’s all a little confusing and rather irrelevant. What you need to know is this book is an explosive, gripping read that is guaranteed to keep you engrossed from start to end.

15 November 2022 – The Vicious Circle by Katherine St John

The Vicious Circle transports you to the heart of cult life. This book digs into the effects extreme religious beliefs can have on people and share how a need to believe and belong can have disastrous results. This book will keep you intrigued as you join the character as she experiences cult life and discovers that things are not what they appear to be.

17 November 2022 – The Library Suicides by Fflur Dafydd

Reading the blurb of this book had me intrigued, and I had to give it a try despite not knowing the author. Who can resist a book about books? The Library Suicides was not what I was expecting. You need to know that this book is set in a fantasy world – not the present. That is not really my thing, I was left just a little disappointed.

21 November 2022 – Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I loved Carrie Soto is Back and Alicia raves about this author, which led me to add another one of her books to my TBR. I decided to start at the beginning when placing an order for Forever, Interrupted. What I must tell you upfront is that I am not a romance fan. It’s the one genre I would give a miss every time. When I hear the word romance – I envision the old Mills & Boon books – which I did pick up during my younger years. (I admit that with some embarrassment). This book was certainly not in that category – thank heavens. I found this to be a moving read that was more about self-discovery with romance in the background.

23 November 2022 – Life or Death by Michael Robotham

I have always found myself loving this author’s books. I am not even sure where I got this one, but it’s been hiding in my TBR pile for a while and it was time for me to read it. Sadly this is the first time this year I have read anything by Michael Robotham and what a brilliant read this was proved to be. When you reach for this book you will fall in love with the character and find yourself rooting for him.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

25 November 2022 – The Cruise by Catherine Cooper

Be prepared to read late into the night when you reach for this book. Catherine Cooper keeps you glued to the pages from start to end with this psychological thriller.  This book unfolds during different timelines which keep you on your toes. At times it feels as if you are reading two different stories. However, this does not make the book difficult to read – the two storylines are easy to follow and adds to the intrigue. The author brings the past and present together beautifully, leaving you loving this reading experience.

This one was easily my book of the month choice. I loved this story and enjoyed the cruise ship setting. While this is only my second time reading this author’s work I find I love her writing. I cannot wait to read more of her work.

That’s it, November is done and dusted. When I start my monthly wrap up I always feel that I did not read enough and that I am letting my readers down. Please let me know what you guys expect from the blog. Are we posting enough reviews, or would you like to see more? Drop me an email, or leave a comment below. I would love to know if I am meeting expectations.

Thank you for your continued support, I will do my best to add a few more reviews during December. Until next time…. Happy Reading!

Feel free to share! Sharing is Caring!
