Family is everything… I always knew my father was a cold, heartless bastard. But the moment he took Elle Castlemaine and her pathetic daughter into our home, barely a month after our mom died, he unleashed something savage inside me. I didn’t care they lost their home. Didn’t care their father was behind bars. Didn’t care he betrayed the notorious Stidda Mafia boss, Benjamin Rossi, and now their lives were in danger. All I cared about was her. Ryth. I wanted to hurt her. Wanted to make her squirm. I wanted to make her pay for the moans coming from my father’s bedroom. When he slipped a ring onto her mother’s finger, Ryth became mine. She’ll become the only thing I think about, until not thinking about her tears me apart. I’ll hate her. I’ll hate her so much it hurts…

Did I fall for an Instagram ad for special editions of this book? Yes, yes, I did. Did I know anything about these books before I spent way too much money on them? Nope, not a thing. Are these books super pretty? Yes, one hundred percent and I do not regret a thing, these books are gorgeous and look amazing on my shelf.

Tobias, Nick and Caleb, these boys need to get a grip. Honestly, they were so hell-bent on making Ryth’s life hell and for WHAT? Ryth had no control over her mother’s actions if they wanted to get revenge on anyone it should have been Elle, the mother. Elle was the one who was cheating on her husband with an ex-boyfriend. Poor Ryth just went through something super traumatic, with her dad being thrown in jail for working with the Mafia, then her house burns down, and she has to move into a stranger’s house and these three boys are just the absolute worst. Caleb was my favourite character purely because he wasn’t as much of a jerk.

Honestly as terrible as it sounds, I hope Ryth’s mom dies in this series or goes on a long holiday throughout the rest of this series because just wow what a bad mother. I also found it strange the relationship Ryth had with her mother because in one chapter she is like ‘Oh no my poor mom, we are so close, I could never live without her’ to her not being close with her mother at all. It truly did baffle me because I could understand if Ryth grew to dislike her mother over time as she changed from the newfound money and power, but it didn’t feel like a gradual dislike, their relationship was constantly hot and cold.

Overall this book was such a rollercoaster of emotions and honestly was super fun if you didn’t overthink every detail of the book. My only hope is that Ryth finds a backbone before I continue the second book in this series.
