Official Summary

Young Adult, Fantasy is not my genre of choice, but as a mother of two teenage daughters, of course, I had to read the Twilight Saga. (read 2011) Now, nine years later, there was no way I was going to miss out on Midnight Sun.

While reading the Twilight Series during 2011, I found myself completely consumed by this story, if anything, I was more wrapped up in the books than my teenage daughters and Midnight Sun had the same effect on me.

If you have read Twilight, then you have a fairly good idea of what to expect from this book. At first, I was not sure if reading the same story from a different viewpoint would be very entertaining. However, after picking up the book and making a start, I was pleasantly surprised. While I knew what was going to happen next, every scene brought a little something new. Again, I found myself completely consumed by the story. Midnight Sun places you inside Edward’s head and shows you things about him you never considered while reading Twilight, while at the same time sharing a lot more about the Cullen family. Naturally, like everyone else, I love Edward, but my character of choice throughout this saga remains Alice….. she features throughout Midnight Sun as well.

My only complaint about the book – and this only because I watched the movies as well – the characters of Ben and Eric ended up a little confusing.

While this was an exceptionally long, and sometimes slightly dragging tale, as a fan of the Twilight saga, you simply have no choice, you must read this book.

  1. I had not read a Stephanie Meyer book for a long time. So when I heard Midnight Sun was coming I really wanted to read it. I personally found it to be a little bit of a long read, not just because it was a really big book but I felt like most parts where it was basically Twilight copied and pasted were really long but I did like the new parts.
I also found it very interesting how much Edward is going through, like in Twilight we knew he was in pain but in Midnight Sun he was going through a lot more stuff than we thought.
I also like the interactions between the family and him reading people’s thoughts.
    Really liked your opinion though.
