Falling in love was the easy part, what comes next is the test…

Following a devastating injury that has left him sidelined and stripped of his beloved number 13 jersey, Johnny is struggling to hold onto his dreams. Lost, insecure, and desperately seeking comfort, he sets his sights on unravelling the mystery of the girl with the midnight-blue eyes. With his best friend, Gibsie, by his side, Johnny embarks on his quest of exposing the secrets surrounding the girl who haunts his every waking hour.

Keeping secrets has never been a problem for Shannon. The life she was born into demands nothing less. She knows that demons and evil men don’t just exist in fairytales. They exist in her world, too. Traumatized beyond repair after her return from Dublin, and desperate to protect her little brothers, Shannon finds herself falling into the same old cover-up, barely keeping her head above water, as her future unravels before her eyes. Beaten and broken, her walls are up and her trust is shaken. Only one boy has the ability to climb those walls. The boy who owns her heart.

Secrets are exposed and lives are changed forever in Keeping 13, the explosive sequel to the bestselling book, Binding 13. Follow Johnny and Shannon as they try to navigate their way through the aftermath of that fateful rugby match in Dublin.

Friendship, first love, rising fame, horrifying secrets, and pain all fuel together as two teenagers from the opposite side of the tracks collide in Keeping 13, the concluding story for Johnny and Shannon. Based in Ireland, the Boys of Tommen series is bound to captivate and lure you into the world of rugby, love, and teenage heartbreak.

Official Summary

23 August 2023

This is the second book in the Boys of Tommen series. This book picks up right where the last one ended. Both Shannon and Johnny are in the hospital, both for very different reasons. You watch as Shannon tries her best to cope with a lot of new changes in her life, however, all those changes are a lot easier now that she has Johnny by her side.

This is hands down one of the saddest books I have ever read. I thought after the first book that things could only get better for the Lynch family and boy was I wrong. At the same time, you watch as Johnny is struggling to hold onto his dreams of becoming a professional rugby player. As well as him coming to terms with everything Shannon is going through.

There has also been an update this week on this series! We are getting Clair and Gibsie’s story. The fifth book in the series is coming out next year in April. I am honestly so looking forward to their story…I can only hope that as they are both sunshine characters their story is slightly less sad because I don’t think my heart can take it.

I am not sure if I could pick a favourite character. I think that is because there are so many characters that I want to know more about. Gibsie and Lizzie are both super mysterious and we don’t get nearly enough about them in this book. I also love Edel, Johnny’s mother, she was a total sweetheart. My heart broke for Shannon and I loved seeing her come out of her shell more in this book, I loved how we very slowly watch as she grew a backbone. I also love how we watched her slowly heal, it wasn’t like every other romance where the person falls in love and suddenly all of their past trauma disappeared. I loved that it was a slow process and by the end of the book she still had a long way to go to being okay.

I think these two books are the best books I have ever read. And I don’t say that lightly. They deeply affected me and honestly broke my heart. I honestly do not know how I am going to get through Joey’s two books, which are next in the series. I think I am going to take a little bit of a mental break between this and the next book in the series, Saving Six. However, I do not think the break will be very long as I am itching to get to the next book.

An easy five stars from me, I could not recommend it more.
