Ignite me – Book Review

By Tahereh Mafi

The fate of omega point is unknown…

Everyone Juliette has ever cared about maybe dead – the rebels, her friends, and even Adam could all be gone. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all.

And now Juliette must rely on Warner. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world – but that’s not all he wants with her…

Official Summary

Juliette must learn to control her powers to take down Anderson. Luckily, Juliette has a lot of help from the people around her, including Warner, who is willing to do anything for her. Juliette must come to terms with the scary fact that everyone might have died at Omega point.

I had two favourite parts in this book one was seeing Kenji and Juliette’s relationship unfold. I loved seeing Kenji become a protective brother to Juliette, taking her under his wing and defending her against Adam. The way Kenji and Juliette became fast friends had me smiling at every part they were together. Secondly, I loved how Juliette gained so much confidence in this book with her standing up and defending herself more and how she used her voice more, finally saying the things she feels.

This book is a total swoon fest, giving us so many cute moments between Warner and Juliette. I loved seeing their relationship unfold and see how they listened to one another and trusted each other. After all their ups and downs, there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

My least favourite character in this book was Adam, I have never wished for a character’s death so much. Adam in this book was not just the heartbroken boy that we saw in the last book; in this book, he was unnecessarily mean. The way he treats Juliette is unforgivable. I think he fell in love with the broken girl who was easily pushed around but the second she got more confidant she was no longer something for him to fix and he didn’t like that.

My favourite character is, and always will be, Kenji. Kenji just has that thing about him. You can’t help but love him, with his sarcasm and humourists remarks. Kenji is the light in this book, the only character that is always happy. Although you know he has been through so much you have to hand it to him for being so normal.

I loved the book; it was a quick read as it had me constantly wanting to read more.  I would defiantly recommend it.
