Official Summary

21 July 2023

House of Sky and Breath. this is the second book in the Crescent City series. This is the eighth book I have read from Sarah J Maas; they somehow keep getting better and better.

The action scenes in this book were phenomenal. It gave so much detail but I didn’t feel like it was too long-winded.

The names in this book somehow got ever more ridiculous and honestly, I have sort of just learnt to deal with it.

My favourite character was Ruhn. I loved the vibes in his house and the dynamic he had with all his friends. And he honestly was just such a sad character overall, every time things went wrong for him I just wanted to give him a hug.

Bryce and Hunt’s relationship was great to read in this book. However, I still don’t trust it because I know the first love interest in Maas’s books is never endgame. So I am really hoping that she has decided to do something new for this series because I think they work well together.

It honestly is scary how much we learnt about Danika in this book, wow, Bryce really knew nothing about her at all. I honestly feel like I started to like Danika less and less every time we found something else she was lying about. I mean poor Bryce’s heart broke as well and that sucked.

Also that ending! I mean there were so many twists and turns throughout this book that I did not see coming. But, that last one had my jaw on the ground.

I would one hundred per cent recommend this series. I cannot get my hands on the next book quickly enough.

House of Earth and Blood

Bryce Quinlan had a perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.
