Official Summary

We all get stuck in the daily routine of life. But how far will you go to add a little excitement to your life? The three women in GAMBLING WIVES takes to need for thrill and excitement to a whole new level. This explosive story will leave you in awe as you turn the pages. If you have any ideas about searching for a little excitement, this book will leave you thinking twice.

Katarina Mayer brings us a creative tale filled with fun and excitement that is guaranteed to leave you amazed. Her gripping writing makes it hard to walk away from this book and I found myself racing through this book in two days – while still balancing the routine of my everyday life. I have not read any of her other books and this story was a refreshing introduction to her writing. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Valerie chose love over a career and this choice left her a housewife in a small village. She loves her husband and son, but she needs more. The mundane routine of being a housewife simply does not fulfil her. She discovers the thrill of poker and before too long with the help of her two closest friends, she is leading a double life that leads to dangerous consequences. Can she give up the thrill and excitement, or will she continue to deceive the people she loves the most?

I could not get enough of this book. These women and their secret lives had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I was completely engrossed in this book. I enjoyed the rollercoaster ride these women were on as their lies started catching up to them. One thing this story highlights is that lying will always lead to disaster.

While Valerie and her strong personality rule the roost I found myself feeling sorry for Hannah. She was not like the other two women. Laura destroyed her marriage by having an affair, but Hannah found herself stuck in an abusive relationship with a troubled teen. My heart broke for her. She was my favourite character, even when she made some questionable choices.

I loved every minute I spent with this book. I enjoyed the secrecy and the disasters the lies lead to. This book was not your typical thriller, I enjoyed the everyday women looking for excitement and fun. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s books.

I would recommend this book to any housewife who is considering searching for some fun and excitement. This book will show you where not to look and how easily things can spin out of control. Thriller fans will love the glitz and glamour of Vegas the author draws into her story of housewives looking for fun.

Author bio from the author’s site

Katarina Mayer currently lives in Nickelsdorf, Austria. The life in a small village inspired her first novel, Gambling Wives. She believes that stories matter because they facilitate emotional journeys, inspire, and entertain. She writes because stories are a great escape, and probably the most beneficial addiction on this planet.

Katarina is mildly dependent on black tea and loves travelling and fresh air (not just to breathe, but to feel really alive). She believes that life is about experiences, not the outcomes; about the journey, not the destination.

She lives with her husband, two sons, a dog and a cat, and daily deals with millions of small or larger issues and joys, just like any other wife and mother. That’s why female characters are at the centre of her stories.
