Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split at the absolute height of their popularity…until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

This book follows a rock band, The Six and singer-songwriter Daisy Jones. You watch them try to get recognized for their music and how they eventually join forces and become Daisy Jones and The Six. You see how they struggle with their relationships and their addictions.

I, like many other people, heard how great the audiobook for this book was and I just had to listen to it. The cast who narrated this book was absolutely amazing. The overall format of the book is very different to most, as it is set out like a documentary-style interview. Where everyone involved from managers to ex-partners was interviewed. I have never read a book in this format and found it to be quite original and enjoyable.

There were times when I wanted to pull my hair out and just scream, as these poor characters just couldn’t catch a break.

These characters were raw and realistic and at times somewhat unlikable. There were times when I thought Daisy was nothing but a spoilt brat and I just wanted to murder her but then there were times when my heart broke for her and when she was my favourite character.

Billy was similar; like any addict, he had his highs and lows. There are times when you want to slap him for being such a terrible husband and friend and times when you just want to hug the poor guy. I will say it again and again Billy did not deserve Camila.

My favourite character had to be Karen, I found her the most likeable and connected most with her character. If Taylor Jenkins Reid ever decides to write a book on just her story I would be first in line to buy it.

I would just like to give a general trigger warning as this book goes into many harsh topics such as excessive drug use and addictions, alcoholism, abortion, and toxic marriages.

Overall this book is amazing, I truly cannot remember the last time a book messed with my head as this one did. I would recommend this book.
