My name is Nicky Frank. I’m in hospital after crashing my car. I am afraid. The only thing that I can think about is Vero. I know I have to save her but why can’t I find her? She is just a little girl.

The man standing by my bed tells me we are married and there is no Vero. That six months ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury which changed my personality.

Now I have dramatic mood swings, an inability to concentrate and large gaps in my memory. I’m much easier to anger. And I drink. All of which he says explains the car accident that put me here.

Now a Sergeant Wyatt Foster is investigating, He has questions about the car accident, concerns about my husband. And he is worried about a missing girl.

He would like to know what happened to me. So would I.

My name is Nicky Frank. This is my life. Watch me Crash and Burn.

Official Summary

This psychological thriller digs deep into trust, loyalty and friendship. The gaps in Nicky’s memory leads the reader down an interesting path of discovery. The author keeps you wondering all the way, you are never quite sure what the truth is yourself.

I enjoy Lisa Gardner’s writing. I have read sixteen of her books to date and I look forward to spending more time being entertained by her work. Crash & Brun is full of twists and turns that keep you wondering what will happen next.

This book will appeal to you if you enjoy a nail-biting psychological thriller that includes heart-breaking scenes along the way. As a mother I was horrified at times, feeling Nicky’s pain while she searches for Vero. A mother losing a child is one thing I have always feared and this story played on that fear.

Waking to find herself in a car wreck, Nicole Frank, forces her injured body from the car, crawls up a steep ravine and flags down help, focusing only on her need to find Vero.

Sergeant Wyatt Foster arrives on the scene and joins the hunt for the missing girl, but there is no trace of her. He later learns that Nicky suffers from an unusual brain injury that causes delusions. According to her husband, there is no child. Nicky, however, insists that she must find Vero.

Wyatt finds nothing about this accident simple. When he learns that Nicky has suffered more than more close accident recently, he is convinced that there is more to the story than meets the eye and keeps digging.

I loved the book. At times I loved Nicky and at times I could not help but doubt her. As the story unfolded my heart broke for her. She was a wonderfully surprising lead character. By the end of the book, she turned into my favourite character without any doubt.

As a Lisa Gardner fan, if you haven’t yet, you must read this book and remember to let me know what you thought.
