Official Summary

Comatose, is a crime mystery that is full of twists and turns. Be sure to have time when you start this book, there are a lot of characters and so many twists and turns you will have to stay focused if you want to keep up.

Comatose is a fast-paced read with a lot of characters. The author allows the reader to slip into Stella’s mind, who is in a coma after a car accident. I enjoyed how the author allows you to ‘float’ in and out of this character’s mind as she fights to regain consciousness. Her writing makes Stella’s coma a reality, allowing the reader to easily imagine what the character was experiencing as she is laying in her hospital bed.

After two car accidents at the same spot, and Stella, the only survivor in a coma, DS Karen Thorpe is determined to prove that this is no accident. Fighting against her superiors to prove what her gut tells her while trying to prove that she deserves her recent promotion. Is Karen right? Is there more to these ‘accidents’, can she find the evidence to prove it?

Comatose tells a brilliantly crafty story that is packed with twists and turns. I read this book in two sittings and found that I had to stay focused. Every page brings something new which makes for an interesting read but also leaves you a little exhausted by the time you are done. Reading this book was like spending time with my ADHD daughter – it is extremely busy! Yet, the story was gripping and I was eager to keep reading to see what surprise the next page was going to bring.

There are a lot of characters to keep up with within this story and the author manages to bring their roles together beautifully. DS Karen Thorpe and her various relationships are guaranteed to keep you glued to the pages. The author created a well-rounded, complex character in Karen that keeps her realistic. My only problem with Karen, I did not like that she was a slob – but everyone has their faults and this little detail added to keeping her realistic.

The book is very busy and leaves your head spinning while you are trying to keep up with everything that is happening, yet there is no doubt it will keep you entertained. Crime and mystery enthusiasts who love a book that is full of twists are guaranteed to find Comatose right up their alley.

This is a book that you will find hard to put down once you get started.

Author bio from publisher

Jane writes novels, short stories and poems, usually with a good dose of humour in them. She probably owes it all to her late grandmother who, she’s just found out, also wrote short stories and poems. She tends to get an idea and then run with it whether it be a 100-word short story or an 80 thousand word novel. It all depends on the voices in her head at the time…

  1. Hi again,
What a lovely review and you’ve taken so much trouble with the presentation too! I’m used to searching for images of yellow Porches, but I didn’t expect anyone else to bother 😊
