I am sharing another audible review, I stumbled upon this one while looking for something quick to listen to. This story could be a delightful cosy mystery, set in the quaint town of Oak Grove, Kansas. The story revolves around Morgan Butler, the new owner of the Coffee Perk, a charming coffee shop on the corner of First and Main. Morgan’s dreams of running a successful business are repeatedly tested as a series of mysterious events unfold around her.
The introduction of Dean Matthews, a true-crime best-selling author who frequents Morgan’s coffee shop, adds an intriguing dynamic to the narrative. As Morgan and Dean form an unlikely partnership to uncover the truth behind the crimes plaguing Oak Grove, you are treated to a captivating blend of amateur sleuthing and cosy charm.
The author crafts a cast of colourful characters, each with their own motives and secrets, keeping you guessing until the very end. The small-town setting adds to the cosy atmosphere of the story, while the mystery keeps the suspense alive throughout. With its engaging plot, well-drawn characters, and clever twists, “Coffee, Tea or Murder” is a delightful read for fans of cosy mysteries. Hickey weaves together humour, suspense, and romance making this a perfect choice for anyone looking for a charming and entertaining escape into the world of amateur sleuthing.
This audiobook book managed to feel rushed and at the same time dragged out. The more novellas I listen to, the more I think they are not for me. This story had a lot of potential, yet somehow, I was not left ‘satisfied’ when it finished. Most likely I am just not cut out for short stories. Have a listen and let me know what you think.
