The world may be doomed by her mistake…unless she has the will to save it.

In the laboratories of the nation’s secret Bioweapons Division, Dr Claire Lyle houses vials that could trigger the apocalypse. After a decade of neglecting her husband and daughter to develop the virus, Claire has finally created the most infectious microbe known to man. Excited to share the news about her creation, she gives an update on the project to her new superior, only for him to demand it be destroyed.

With all hope of negotiating for the project’s survival gone and a broken promise remaining where an effective vaccine should have been, Claire is forced to choose a different path, one which includes a distraught co-worker who is full of damning secrets.

Official Summary

To start with I have to say, do not be discouraged by the creepy cover of this book. The story is not nearly as bad as the cover looks. If I saw this cover in a bookstore, I would without a doubt pass it by.

Imagine you created something that could destroy humans, a bioweapon like no one has ever seen before. Before you have the chance to create a vaccine, the virus is released and you are forced to watch the destruction unfold, unable to do anything to stop it.

This was an introduction to K.T. Rose for me and I found myself enjoying her writing. Her story is short and to the point with just enough detail and graphic information to keep you hooked from start to finish.

Dr Lyle has spent nine years creating the perfect bioweapon; V7.  A deadly virus the puts the US way ahead of their enemies in the field. She is excited and proud of her achievement. When her boss retires and a new Major takes over the division she cannot wait to share what progress she has made. Only to have him demand that it be destroyed.

Eager to keep nine years of work alive, Dr Lyle steals the virus and sells it to the highest bidder, only to have the virus released and her family put at risk.

This book is only 37 pages and long and can easily be read in one sitting. I found myself gripped from the first line of the book eager to see where the author was taking her story. Pre COVID this book would have seemed far fetched and extremely unrealistic. However, with the world we are living in and all the conspiracy theories flying around, you find yourself almost believing this tale.

This sci-fi, horror story is perfect for the times we are living in and will appeal to anyone who enjoys sci-fi and horror. Conspiracy theorists just might find this rather intriguing as well. Just remember this is a work of fiction, do not take it too seriously.

I found I loved this little tale and recommend it for a quick read that is guaranteed to leave you wondering, just a little bit.
