Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

Okay so I gave A Court of Thorns and Roses 5 stars and I honestly didn’t think the next book could be any better. And boy was I wrong. I now look back on the first book and think it was terrible compared to this one. I think this is the first time I thought the sequel was better than the first book.

There were a lot of new characters introduced in this book. Like Mor, Rhysand’s cousin. I liked her although her back story was so sad.

Cassian – he was okay, honestly, he could have not been in this story and I probably wouldn’t notice. However, I get the feeling we are going to get more from him in the next few books. So I look forward to that.

Azriel was briefly mentioned in the first book however we get to see him a lot more in this one and got a lot more character development. Again we didn’t get a lot of him, but I look forward to seeing more of him in the next books.

Then there is Ameren. She is a total badass. So that immediately makes her my favourite. I can’t help it. I am a total sucker for a strong female character. I love that even Rhysand is a sort of afraid of her and he is supposedly the strongest High Fae.

I will say the plot in this book is so much better, I think because this book was like two hundred more pages than the first. Not to mention there is no need for excessive world-building. I liked the storyline of them trying to train Feyre and still make sure war doesn’t break out.

I loved how the author had Feyre go through hell in the last book and that she wasn’t over all the trauma in the first chapter. I also loved how Maas wrote Feyre dealing with that trauma. I find most of the time when a character is dealing with trauma in most books it either isn’t addressed or it takes over the whole plot. I liked how we saw Feyre deal with it but the overall plot progressed around it. The plot didn’t come to a standstill because she was having a hard time.

Also that ending? Wow! Talk about a cliff-hanger. It had me wanting to pick up the next book immediately. Sadly, I don’t have the next one yet…It has been ordered though, just waiting for delivery.

Overall I loved the book and I look forward to the next one. If you enjoyed the first one you will love this one.
