This is my second review copy from Jonathan Ball Publishers – THANK YOU!
Laura Maarshall fans are in for a treat with this one. Kiss Marry Kill is a smart, engaging psychological thriller that takes a familiar friendship dynamic and twists it into something dark, tense, and surprisingly emotional.
The story centres around three best friends—Angela, Sara, and Helen—each at a very different stage of life. I really enjoyed how Laura Marshall gave each woman a distinct voice and storyline. Angela’s confidence as a dating agency owner, Sara’s vulnerability as a widow forcing herself back into the dating world, and Helen’s heartbreaking struggle with a controlling, abusive partner all felt realistic and well-drawn.
The novel really hits its stride once Helen finally confides in her friends about Brian’s abusive behaviour. From there, the tension ramps up quickly. When Brian has his “accident,” the question of guilt hangs heavily over all three women, and the author does a great job of keeping you guessing. The central premise—wanting someone gone versus actually being capable of murder—is explored in a thoughtful and unsettling way.
What stood out most for me was the exploration of female friendship and loyalty. The bond between the women feels authentic, and their shared fear and secrecy add emotional weight to the suspense. While the pacing slows slightly in places, particularly during the build-up, it allows the characters and their relationships to develop in a way that makes the outcome more impactful.
Kiss Marry Kill is a gripping, character-driven thriller with a clever concept and plenty of tension. It’s not just about the mystery, but about choices, consequences, and how far you might go to protect the people you love. A solid four-star read that kept me turning the pages.

MY HUSBAND'S KILLER
Three couples. One murder. A holiday to die for . . .
We arrived at a villa on the Amalfi Coast, ready to enjoy a sun-soaked weekend with our oldest friends – and one new face.
By the end of the weekend, my husband is found dead.
But how can I mourn him when, on the day of his funeral, I discover he was having an affair?
The only suspects are the women we went on holiday with. My oldest, closest friends.
I really want to dig into my husband’s secret. Do I really want to know who betrayed me?
