Secrets. Lies. Murder. Let the festivities begin…
It’s the opening night of The Manor, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; crystal pouches for guests’ healing have been placed in the Seaside Cottages and Woodland Hutches; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.
But under the burning midsummer sun, darkness stirs. Old friends and enemies circulate among the guests. Just outside the Manor’s immaculately kept grounds, an ancient forest bristles with secrets. And the Sunday morning of opening weekend, the local police are called. Something’s not right with the guests. There’s been a fire. A body’s been discovered.
THE FOUNDER * THE HUSBAND * THE MYSTERY GUEST * THE KITCHEN HELP
It all began with a secret, fifteen years ago. Now the past has crashed the party. And it’ll end in murder at… The Midnight Feast.

Lucy Foley has become a go-to author for readers who love a good locked-room mystery, and The Midnight Feast delivers exactly what you’d expect — secrets, lies, simmering tension, and a group of guests you can’t quite trust.

Set at the grand opening of The Manor, an exclusive eco-luxury retreat on the coast, this story has all the hallmarks of a classic Foley setup: a glamorous setting, a carefully curated guest list, and a dark undercurrent that hums just beneath the surface. The scene is deceptively perfect — infinity pools, designer cocktails, and a promise of healing energy. But as the weekend unfolds, old grudges and hidden truths begin to surface, and by Sunday morning, there’s been a fire… and a body has been found.

What I particularly enjoyed was how Foley builds the tension layer by layer. She alternates between timelines and characters — the Founder, the Husband, the Mystery Guest, the Kitchen Help — gradually revealing how their lives are entangled by a secret that began fifteen years earlier. It’s a clever structure that keeps you guessing until the end.

The writing is atmospheric and vivid, full of sensory details that make The Manor feel like a character in its own right. Foley has a real knack for turning luxury into something menacing, and here she captures that unease perfectly — a place where beauty feels just a bit too polished, and smiles hide sharp edges.

If I had one small quibble, it’s that a few of the character perspectives felt slightly familiar to her earlier works, and at times I wished for deeper emotional exploration. Still, the pacing, twists, and sheer entertainment value more than make up for it.

The Midnight Feast is a deliciously dark, modern whodunit — full of glamour, secrets, and simmering resentment. It’s perfect for readers who enjoy an atmospheric mystery that keeps them turning pages late into the night.

THE HUNTING PARTY

Everyone’s invited…everyone’s a suspect…
For fans of Ruth Ware and Tana French, a shivery, atmospheric, page-turning novel of psychological suspense in the tradition of Agatha Christie, in which a group of old college friends are snowed in at a hunting lodge . . . and murder and mayhem ensue.
All of them are friends. One of them is a killer.
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of thirtysomething friends from Oxford meet to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students ten years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands—the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves.
They arrive on December 30th, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world.
Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.
The trip began innocently enough: admiring the stunning if foreboding scenery, champagne in front of a crackling fire, and reminiscences about the past. But after a decade, the weight of secret resentments has grown too heavy for the group’s tenuous nostalgia to bear. Amid the boisterous revelry of New Year’s Eve, the cord holding them together snaps.
Now one of them is dead . . . and another of them did it.
Keep your friends close, the old adage goes. But just how close is too close?
