September in a Nutshell

That's a Wrap!

Greetings from sunny South Africa! Spring has arrived, and the weather has been absolutely glorious. If any of my international readers are considering a visit, don’t hesitate to reach out—my tour operator business can help you plan the perfect African safari experience: ZS Safari.

But you’re here for the books, so let’s dive into the wrap-up. September was a quieter month on the blog—no blog tours this time around, and just one NetGalley review. That said, it gave me the chance to make a small dent in my ever-growing TBR. I ended up sharing thirteen reviews this month. If you missed any, here’s a quick recap:

BOOK OF THE MONTH

This month’s standout was an easy choice: Games for Dead Girls by Jen Williams. Originally published in 2023, this dark, atmospheric story completely hooked me and deserves every bit of attention it can get.

Games for Dead Girls

When Charlie was eleven, she created a monster…

In the seaside town of Hithechurch, England, eleven-year-old Charlotte befriends Emily, a clever but secretive girl with a troubled home life. Desperate to get rid of Emily’s abusive father, the two girls perform a ritual to summon the vengeful spirit of a local legend—“Stitch Face Sue.” But the game spirals out of control, and when tragedy strikes, both girls are institutionalized.

Years later, Charlie returns to Hithechurch as an adult, researching the town’s folklore for a book. But she’s also determined to set the record straight—Emily has published a bestselling memoir that pins the blame on Charlie. At the same time, young girls begin to disappear, and Charlie finds herself drawn into a chilling mystery where past and present collide.

In a town haunted by urban legends and dark secrets, Charlie must untangle the truth before her own past catches up with her.

As always, thank you for supporting the blog. In a perfect world, I’d spend all my time reading and shouting about books—and never doing anything else! There are so many talented authors out there, and never quite enough hours in the day.

Until next time… Happy Reading!

Feel free to share! Sharing is Caring!
