By now, you will know that I have been working my way through the Eddie Flynn series. It’s taking longer than I thought it would, but I find myself enjoying each book a little more. The Liar is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled legal thriller that grabs you from the very first page and refuses to let go. I’ve really come to love the Eddie Flynn series, and this third instalment is, without a doubt, one of the strongest so far.
The story kicks off with a gut-punch: Leonard Howell’s daughter, Caroline, has been kidnapped. Desperate and distrustful of the police, Howell turns to the only person he believes can help him — Eddie Flynn. What follows is a rollercoaster of deception, manipulation, and high-stakes courtroom drama as Eddie dives into a case where no one can be trusted and nothing is what it seems.
Eddie Flynn is such a brilliant character — sharp, resourceful, and endlessly compelling. His past as a con artist gives him a unique edge that sets him apart from your typical legal thriller protagonist. He knows the tricks, the scams, and the players, which makes watching him untangle the lies in this case incredibly satisfying. But what makes this book even more gripping is the emotional undercurrent; Eddie’s own painful history as a father adds depth and weight to every decision he makes.
The pacing is flawless. The short, punchy chapters make it nearly impossible to put down, and just when you think you’ve figured it all out, Cavanagh throws in another clever twist that leaves you questioning everything. The tension builds relentlessly, blending intense courtroom battles with dark secrets and dangerous confrontations in the criminal underworld.
What I loved most is how layered this story is. It’s not just about a kidnapping — it’s about betrayal, manipulation, and the devastating consequences of believing the wrong person. The title The Liar couldn’t be more fitting, and by the end, I was left stunned by how cleverly Cavanagh had woven everything together.
If you enjoy clever legal thrillers with razor-sharp twists and a protagonist you can’t help but root for, this book is a must-read. It’s gripping, unpredictable, and utterly addictive — a solid five-star addition to the Eddie Flynn series.

THE PLEA
When David Child, a major client of a corrupt New York law firm, is arrested for murder, the FBI ask con-artist-turned-lawyer Eddie Flynn to secure Child as his client and force him to testify against the firm.
Eddie’s not a man to be coerced into representing a guilty client, but the FBI have incriminating files on Eddie’s wife, and if Eddie won’t play ball, she’ll pay the price.
When Eddie meets Child he’s convinced the man is innocent, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. With the FBI putting pressure on him to secure the plea, Eddie must find a way to prove Child’s innocence while keeping his wife out of danger – not just from the FBI, but from the firm itself.
