That’s a Wrap!
It’s hard to believe that I started this blog back in 2020. What began as a way to keep myself occupied during COVID has grown into something I can’t imagine my life without. Four years later, sharing my book reviews has become a cornerstone of my daily routine. Along the way, I’ve met incredible people, made new friends, and discovered some fantastic “new-to-me” authors. To everyone who has touched my life and changed it for the better—thank you.
As we reach the halfway point of December, it’s time for a little break and a look back at 2024. This year brought its fair share of challenges. I began the year feeling overwhelmed by stress from my day job, which ultimately led me to make a big decision: I quit and started my own business. While being my own boss hasn’t eliminated stress, it’s a kind of stress I can manage—and making that leap has been one of the best decisions of my life. (If you’re planning a trip to Africa, let me know—I’d love to help you craft the perfect African adventure!)
Through it all, I’ve always made time for the blog. It’s a part of me now, and the only thing better than getting lost in a great book is sharing it with others.
2024 Blog Stats
Here’s a quick breakdown of what this year looked like for the blog:
Picking a favourite book this year feels impossible. I strive to highlight new releases as my “Book of the Month,” which makes narrowing it down even harder. But here’s a highlight of my 2024 reading journey:
The 2024 Blog Book Battle
This year, I discovered Chris Carter’s Robert Hunter series, starting in August. I haven’t read them all yet, but without question, this has been my series of the year. Every single book has been a 5-star read for me. If you haven’t explored this gripping series yet, I highly recommend adding it to your 2025 TBR!
Special Thanks
I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to:
- Anne Cater from Random Things Tours – Thank you for all the amazing blog tour books you shared with me this year. I’m excited to collaborate again in 2025!
- NetGalley and its publishers – Thank you for granting me access to so many fantastic ARCs. I’m thrilled to be closing in on my NetGalley 100 Reviews badge, and I can’t wait to celebrate that milestone on the blog.
- Local publishers – A huge thank you to Jonathan Ball Publishing and Penguin Random House South Africa for the incredible review copies. Each one has been a brilliant addition to my bookshelf and blog.
- You, my readers – Your continued support means the world to me. Whether you visit occasionally or are a regular reader, your engagement keeps this blog thriving.
Looking Ahead
As 2024 wraps up, I wish you all a wonderful festive season filled with joy, relaxation, and (of course) good books. Here’s to a fantastic 2025 filled with more stories to discover and share.
Until next time… Happy Reading!
