I have been meaning to get to this book forever. I got this book when I went to a book signing for Holly Jackson. A tour she was doing for this very book. This was multiple months ago and I am glad I am finally getting to it.

I loved this book. The beginning started a bit slow, however, once the plot started it was super-fast which I loved. It has been a while since I have read such a good mystery that it has me on the edge of my seat like that.

Bel was an interesting character, and I can see why Jackson said that she is her favourite character that she has ever written. She wasn’t as perfect as the rest of her characters, she is flawed and honestly, I think this is the most accurate teenager Jackson has written to date.

I really enjoyed Ash’s character; he is very different from most of the male characters I usually read. Yet he was very funny. I know Holly Jackson has previously said how much she dislikes writing romances in her books, and I fully get that. With this genre, it almost feels forced to add it and I know it is properly because Jackson’s publishers want it as it is more likely to sell. However, I do wish we had more Ash in this book, not even as a love interest just as himself. This book felt like it was missing more wit and Ash’s character gave us that.

As great as this book was. I think Holly Jackson is going to have a hard time ever beating her AGGGTM series. I think she set our expectations very high on that one and I think I will never read a book by her and not compare it to her previous work. I’m sure this is a hard thing for her as I know many other people think the same way.

Overall, this book is definitely worth the read and I cannot stress how much I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good plot twist and thriller.
