Emma is a high-profile MP. Impassioned and empathetic, she wants to make a positive difference but faces threats and trolling as she tries to work in the public eye.
When she launches a campaign to protect women from the effects of online bullying, the abuse steps up. And when her teenage daughter’s character is called into question, Emma learns how far she will go to protect both their reputations.
But still: how did she come to be standing trial for murder? She only lied once – didn’t she?
As with Sarah’s last two books, Reputation is both a very successful, suspenseful mystery and emotionally involving: the perfectly positioned book for readers who are curious about what it means to be a woman in the world today. A timely, thought-provoking novel about women, perception and power.

Have you ever considered how important your reputation is? What happens if you are in the public eye and suddenly your reputation is questioned, how far will you go to save your good name? The book explores the life of a woman in the public eye, a politician, who is reliant on her reputation to succeed professionally and is about to have it all taken away.
You can expect a gripping read that will keep you enthralled as you flick from page to page.
This was my second book by Sarah Vaughan. I reviewed Little Disasters during July last year and fell in love with Sarah Vaughan’s writing. Reputation was everything I hoped for when reaching for this book. I loved the detail she includes in her story which allows you to understand the life of a politician and mother. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s work.
Emma is an MP who is passionate about her job. She is determined to make a difference. Being in the public eye, she has her share of threats and trolling. But when she launches a new campaign, speaking up for women who suffer online bullying, the threats and trolling seriously increase.
While living in constant fear for her safety, her teenage daughter decides to make a silly decision that leaves her character being questioned.
How far will Emma go to protect her daughter? And how did she end up standing trial for murder?
I hated that I did not have more time to spend reading once I picked up this book. This book highlights the struggle successful women face and the effects life in the public eye can have on a family. This is a powerful, gripping read filled with emotion, strength and one woman’s determination to make a difference.
Emma is first and foremost a mother who will protect her child at all costs. But she is also an MP who is determined to make a difference, and her campaign around online bullying of women highlights how important it is to her to protect women. I love how this woman is shown as a strong, determined individual, but at the same time, her vulnerabilities and fears are never hidden away. The author did a magnificent job creating this character to be a well rounded, realistic person designed to inspire and motivate while remaining very much a flawed human.
There is no doubt this book has headed to my loved list for 2022, this is a powerful read that will appeal to women of all ages. I would highly recommend this book. While I enjoyed Sarah Vaughan after reading Little Disasters I can say this book has made me a fan. I cannot wait to spend more time reading her work.
If you are looking for an addictive read filled with flair and compassion, then be sure to add this one to your TBR. This is a must read.
