2021 Releases I am Itching to Read

The new year brings 12 new chapters and loads of brand-new books guaranteed to keep all the book worms out there entertained. There are so many books and so little time, I struggled to keep this list to a minimum. I am like a kid at Christmas when I see all the new titles heading our way and of course, I want all of them!

So let’s dig in, these are just some of the titles I am itching to get my hands on.

Coming 21 January

I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and you will be missing out if you do not add this title to your reading list this year. Read my Review. Lisa Gardner was without a doubt my author of choice last year, I worked my way through fifteen of her books and loved every single one of them.

Recovering alcoholic Frankie Elkin spends her life doing what no one else will–searching for missing people the world has stopped looking for. A new case brings her to Mattapan, a Boston neighbourhood with a rough reputation. She is searching for Angelique Badeau, a Haitian teenager who vanished from her high school months earlier. Resistance from the Boston PD and the victim’s wary family tells Frankie she’s on her own–and she soon learns she’s asking questions someone doesn’t want answered. But Frankie will stop at nothing to discover the truth, even if it means the next person to go missing could be her.

Coming 13 April

I have just received my ARC on this title from NetGalley, and I cannot wait to get through this one. Sally Hepworth is new to me but the blurb sounds very promising – my review will be posted soon….

There’s only been one time that Rose couldn’t stop me from doing the wrong thing and that was a mistake that will haunt me for the rest of my life.’

Fern Castle works in her local library. She has dinner with her twin sister Rose three nights a week. And she avoids crowds, bright lights and loud noises as much as possible. Fern has a carefully structured life and disrupting her routine can be . . . dangerous.

When Rose discovers that she cannot fall pregnant, Fern sees her chance to pay her sister back for everything Rose has done for her. Fern can have a baby for Rose. She just needs to find a father. Simple.

Fern’s mission will shake the foundations of the life she has carefully built for herself and stir up dark secrets from the past, in this quirky, rich and shocking story of unexpected love.

Coming 09 February

I have not missed a CJ Tudor book yet, I absolutely love her work and The Burning Girls is very high on my wishlist – even if it’s a little later, I will get my hands on this one and share a review when I do.

500 years ago: eight martyrs were burnt to death, 30 years ago: two teenagers vanished without trace, Two months ago: the vicar committed suicide, Welcome to Chapel Croft.

For Rev Jack Brooks and teenage daughter Flo it’s supposed to be a fresh start. New job, new home. But, as Jack knows, the past isn’t easily forgotten.

And in a close-knit community where the residents seem as proud as they are haunted by Chapel Croft’s history, Jack must tread carefully. Ancient superstitions as well as a mistrust of outsiders will be hard to overcome.

Yet right away Jack has more frightening concerns. Why is Flo plagued by visions of burning girls?

Who’s sending them sinister, threatening messages? And why did no one mention that the last vicar killed himself? Chapel Croft’s secrets lie deep and dark as the tomb. Jack wouldn’t touch them if not for Flo – anything to protect Flo. But the past is catching up with Chapel Croft – and with Jack. For old ghosts with scores to settle will never rest . . .

Coming January

I have not read anything by Stuart MacBride for a while and I look forward to digging my teeth into this title. Remember to subscribe and follow the blog via email to make sure you never miss one of our reviews again.

Coming 13 April

Forensic psychologist and single mother Ann Bailey has joined forces with Montana Highway Patrol officer Bryce McCabe. An expert in untangling the motives of depraved minds, Ann is tasked to help solve the mystery of two murdered women doused with gasoline and set aflame.

It’s not hard for Ann to be reminded of the charismatic Elijah Weston, who served a decade in prison for arson—a crime that nearly cost Ann her life. Elijah may have been exonerated, but the connection to these rage killings is impossible for Ann to ignore. One of the victims has been identified as an obsessed Elijah groupie. Elijah has obsessions, too. Ever since Ann returned to town, he can’t take his eyes off her. And as a mother with a secret, she’s the perfect victim for an infatuated psychopath.

The deeper Ann and Bryce’s investigation goes, the nearer they get to each other and to danger. After another murder hits close to home, Ann fears a clue is hidden in her own past. Only one thing terrifies her more than the reveal of her long-held secret. It’s that the secret itself has put Ann into a killer’s line of fire.

Coming March

How can you resist this blurb, I cannot wait to lose some sleep with this title.

Another author that I am not familiar with, but I promised myself that I will expand my author list this year. This book appears to offer everything I love in a book, so let see.

When seventeen-year-old Emma leaves her best friend Abi at a party in the woods, she believes, like most girls her age, that their lives are just beginning. Many things will happen that night, but Emma will never see her friend again. Abi’s disappearance cracks open the façade of the small town of Whistling Ridge, its intimate history of long-held grudges and resentment. Even within Abi’s family, there are questions to be asked. Anything could happen in Whistling Ridge, and all it will take is just one spark – the truth of what really happened that night out at the Tall Bones…

Coming June

Another new release that piqued my curiosity. I cannot wait to read this one!

After reading The Rumour, I have high expectation for this book, March where are you!

When teenage friends Lizzie and Alice decide to head off for a walk in the countryside, they are blissfully unaware that only Lizzie will come back alive. Is the trauma of the accident finally catching up with her, or could someone be trying to threaten her new-found happiness?

Coming March

In an attempt to keep my promise and expand my author list, this book had to be added to my wish list for 2021.

When Felix lets himself into Number 3 Black Lane, he’s there to perform an act of charity: to keep a dying man company as he takes his final breath… But just fifteen minutes later Felix is on the run from the police – after making the biggest mistake of his life. Now his world is turned upside down as he must find out if he’s really to blame, or if something much more sinister is at play. All while staying one shaky step ahead of the law.

Coming February

For some reason this blurb reminded me of the TV series Dark Angel – the storyline is not similar so I am not sure why, but since I enjoyed the TV series (wow that was ages ago….) I have to give this book a try.

Girl A,’ she said. ‘The girl who escaped. If anyone was going to make it, it was going to be you.’

parents’ House of Horrors. And she doesn’t want to think about her identity as Girl A: the girl who

escaped. When her mother dies in prison and leaves Lex and her siblings the family home, she can’t

run from her past any longer. Together with her sister, Evie, Lex intends to turn the House of Horrors

into a force for good. But first, she must come to terms with her six siblings and with the childhood they shared.

Coming February

Kieran Elliott’s life changed forever on a single day when a reckless mistake led to devastating consequences. When a body is discovered on the beach, long-held secrets threaten to emerge in the murder investigation that follows. A sunken wreck, a missing girl, and questions that have never washed away…

This sounds like a really good read, one I just had to add to my list for 2021.

A murderous game. The killer makes the rules. Death hangs on the roll of the dice.

The gripping prequel is the shocking first case for one of British crime fiction’s most iconic detectives.
